hey guys,

i currently have 18" rims on my car but i tossing up whether to get 16's or just stick with the 18's. Is there any real gain from having the 16's on and if anyone has a type r with 16's on can they post up the pic. Im just worried that if i change the rims its gonna look sheit.

thanks

I reckon 90% of DC2Rs I see on the road have their stock wheels or a set of stockies of another colour. I've only seen one DC2R with aftermarket dish which looks okay but I'd still prefer the stockies.

I would love to see some 16" Enkeis, Volks, Work rims on them though!

yeh i was thinking either the work cr's or the enkei 5 spokes (the thin ones, i dont know what theyre called) But at the moment i have 7 spoke 18" shadow chrome wheels n now. looks hot i think, just is way to expensive to buy tyres.

Have any of you guys got 16's on your teg. if so post up, post up..

The lightest rims are the best rims. (strength being a constant factor).

Get some quality forged 16's, the difference will astound you :D

What about JDM dc5 or dc5 rims?

Look alright for stock rims, and they wouldn't be "that" heavy.

Wrong. Forged 15's are best for performance on a DC2R. Stock AUDM rims (though considered light) still weigh approx 5.8kg, forged 15's can get down to under 4kg (ie. CP-035). Let me tell you 0.5kg /wheel difference is already very noticeable on our 'low torque' motors.

you are right there dude...
light weight wheels do wonders for your car.
like anything, anything lighter is easier to move around.

i have lightweight 15" forged rims on my car... and never looked back.
for looks the largest size i would choose to not affect performance would be 16"

i guess what you really need to consider is if performance/handling is more or less important against looks :)

and remember... any decent rim you purchase should be complimented with good or even high quality tyres..

That's right. People tend to ignore this, but forged rims are a damn good performance mod!! :)

Won't add peak power (DUH), but it'll enable you to make much better use of the power and torque you already have.

18s cover more ground than 16s ..

how bout 17s

technically 18's do cover more ground but to run them under an integra's wheel arches you would probably need to go down one width size in tyre... with 16's you could go up one width size in tyre...

i think u get the point.

Not to mention the engine torque you're sapping (ie WASTING) by having to rotate the extra weight. Cover more ground yeah, but think about the extra time needed to get up to speed.

the largest diameter i'd go is 16 x 7

JDM DC5 rims weigh in at 9.5kg +/- 0.5kg.

Not so nice on DC2 IMO... doesn't suit the shape.

MUCH lighter? i highly doubt it. TE37s are light but i would be willing to bet they are probably a similar weight to your stockies.

but i always refer folk to this thread - it is not the bible on wheel weights but it is at least a good indicator and TE37s come in at 17pounds or 7.65kg - i would be willing to agree with this weight, cos that is DAMN light for a 17" rim, forged or not.

I think you accidentally misread the 18x7.5 one. The 17x7.5 is listed as 15pounds which is 6.85kg (1kg per wheel heavier than stock). Stock is listed as 13pounds which is 5.89kg - I weighed mine at 5.85 so pretty close :). From the various weights I've checked on that list it is pretty darn accurate.

I was looking at either the WORK CR's or just recently i saw a trader selling JDM DC5R rims. I thought they looked pretty hot, just not sure whether the white rims will be too lary for the black car? If i got the work rims i would get them in bronze

Man how can you got pass the CE28N for looks and performance?

For 17" they r are only 6.4Kg. And their design is perfect for the dc2.

Yeah I got 16x7 on my DC2R. Drivabitlity is the same as stock i reckin with 205/45/16 tyres. Handles better around corners at high speed.
