Has anyone replaced their wiper blades on the Euro?

I just spend 20 minutes at Supercheap auto going through every blade they sell (huge wall of them!) - none of them is long enough for the driver side blade.

What is going on? It is a hassle to get these from Honda parts

Well there is one upside to the population of euros on the road being so prolific........

cmon - these are blades - should be available at most automotive places.

I looked at all the Bosch blades at Supercheap. I just checked the Bosch catalogue too (Bosch being the biggest blade manufacturer in the world) - the longest blade they make for any car is 24 inch.

The Euro driver's side blade is longer than 24 - I need at least 25 inch!

Tried looking for a set too a few months back LOL... It's all a plot to get owners to buy the wipers from Honda, they make unreasonably long lengths that the current market doesn't supply so that we will buy it from the dealership and pay crazy loads of money for it...

Looks like the Euro driver's side is 26". Not an easy size to find:

Someone on Acura-tsx.com got the PIAA blades in that size - paid $50 USD!

* PIAA Wiper Blade BLACK SINGLE 16 (400mm) Blade # 5 # 93040
* PIAA Wiper Blade BLACK SINGLE 26 (650mm) Blade # 82 # 93065

How long before they need replacing?

I replaced the wiper blades on my Euro just a few weeks ago. Don't bother with aftermarket rubbers, the quality generally sucks. Bought both wiper inserts from my local Honda dealer, had them on the shelf, $27.00 for both including GST. :)

The fuss is that not everyone lives close to a Honda dealer. It would be good to buy these at the local service station or automotive store.

In a perfect world yes but how often do you need to be changing wiper blades.

In a perfect world yes but how often do you need to be changing wiper blades.

It is convenience - not really timing. Eg I first realised I needed blades 1100km north of Perth. How many Honda dealers out that way?

When you need new wiper blades - I find you want them quickly and it is usually unexpected! It is frustrating to have crap visibility.

It is not really a big hassle - I'll just buy a spare pack from the dealer and keep them in the car. I have just grown to expect (reasonably I think)that wiper blades are a replacement item you can buy at most servos and automotive stores. Not so with the Euro.

I need new blades as well..

can't believe the piaa are so expensive..

honda dealership don't sound too expensive - but they're kinda crap since i feel they've worn out pretty fast, visibility is getting a bit worse but not bad enough to be anal about. I'm just anal about it.

I need new blades, my car is only 9 months old. If you ever see silicon rubber blades in a suitable size for the Euro, please PM me. Those are good and last long.

Well to wrap this thread up - I got the blades from Honda parts for $27.

They are not even replacement BLADES - they are just replacement rubbers. You need to re-use the blade part.

I didn't even ask how much the blades are - don't want to know

Thought i'll mention it. When I had the Euro for 2 weeks, it rain like crap...
Turned it on the second faster settings and the rubber was already making noises... Wonder if they would do a warrenty job to replace it!

The squeaking is because the windscreen probably has a film of something. I had squeaks when I used RainX, sometimes the wiper would jump too!
I cleaned it with car windscreen cleaner when washing my car, and no noise now. Although my rubber is worn where there was dust previously, because it streaks now.

No no no no, RainX is good! It's safer to drive around with a windscreen that beads water rather than one that forms a film on it.
I had this bottle of car window cleaner, ammonia-free. Uses some light detergent and a low concentration of mild solvent. It's meant to be tint-safe. Bought it from counteract.com.au, but I'm sure you can get those from Big-W that cleans well too. Just stay away from ammonia, and get one that is tint-safe (ensures that it is mild). For inside the windscreen, I use a microfibre cloth that is damp (water of course) and then wipe dry with a 2nd dry microfibre.

windex any good with tint??

windex any good with tint??
Windex has ammonia in it. I think it should be ok on the outside of your windscreen but NOT on the inside. The reason windex is bad for tint is because windex dissolves the adhesive used to hold the tint to the window.

Windex desolve the glue??
never heard that one before!

Ammonia discolours the tint turning it purple (you can see it when someone has used an ammonia cleaner for the inside of the car)

just use water and a microfiber cloth to clean the inside of the windows, you can pick up cheap microfiber cloths for class from most auto stores or coles/woolies

They use windex to remove the glue that is left over when you are removing the tint. So for your tint, if you manage to get it at the edges, the windex will seep in, dissolve the glue and you will get peeling.

The wiper blade rubber that comes from factory is crap rubbish.
It started making noise not long after I bought the car brand new, which I wasn't very happy about. I didn't bother changing it since it doesn't rain too often in Brisbane anyway.
On top of the noise, it streaks now.

That's true. I got my Euro mid-oct 2004, and I have to change it now because it is streaking badly and the top half of the rubber leaves a film of water on the screen. Going to the dealer tomorrow to pick up the replacement rubber for $28, ouch!
