i merged these two - very similar questions. Keep it all in one thread guys at a time !

BTW - get a Header 1st , THEN get a ECU atfter you have done all your modifications. THEN tune it for the mods.

honestly, with cars, you get what you pay for.

especially with tuning, you don't wanna spend heaps of money on styling, and then put in some hack and smash ecu / system together.

sure, it might take more time to save, and your girlfriend might be getting mad cuz you havent taken her on that holiday you promised (... sorry babe) ~ but eventually you'll get there, and if she's a keeper, she'll hang around anyway.

talk to BLACKCRX, he seems to be the heir apparent when it comes to tuning and etc, and remember, pay peanuts you get monkeys.

man never get a cheap ecu. theres actually a difference in quality and peformance, i would get 'hondata' ecu. ;) and who and where you get it tuned by also makes a difference.. :p

as toda has advised you shouldnt really go for a piggy back system like a VAFC go the full stand alone ecu...and as suggested by many just do it right the first time save you heaps of money in the long run....

as benny boy says...

I would go the Toda header first which is rougly ~$1700 or so installed?

ECU works best when you have perform the basic i/h/e, as for ECU, definitely Hondata.

Visit http://www.hondatech.com.au/forum/ for dyno results.

There are comparison for DC5R with just ECU and ones with the basic i/h/e.

Mmmm mods first then ECU....

Most of us Type R owners prefer Toda over other brands.... best ECU? IMO Hondata K100....

If you compare $ vs KW gain, a ECU gives you more gain for less money.

I always get asked the question ECU of mods first, there’s two ways of the coin, do your mods, and have your car not running optimal, or install a ECU and then tune it as you go getting the most out of each modification. At the end of the day its like who came first, the chicken or the egg ?
