I just bought the type s 2nd hand with 23000km, i was launching it at 3000 rpm and noticed rear wheel spin if i dont do it right. Does anyone get that?
And when i hit 8000rpm on 1st gear and change to 2nd gear, my rear wheel spins and bounces once or twice, is this normal? Or is it my rear tires are worn out and need replacing because i checked and my tires seem normal, can someone clear this help thanks

no seriously, as soon i hit 8000rpm, i change gear and my rear wheel spins and bounces like one or two like i ran over a rock, exactly as if it was rear wheel drive. Do you have a dc5 type s? anyone who have one pls let me know there is something wrong or its normal....

i've sat in my friends dc5r and when he changed gears to second the FRONT tires kinda bumped up and down as they were struggling to get grip....

maybe the previous owner of ur car, wanted an integra drift machine so he converted the whole drive line.....? lolz.

u have a sleeper drifter!!!!

Ah i was reading on clubrsx.com and they said its normal for type s to wheel hop because of the engine. http://forums.clubrsx.com/showthread.php?t=205128&highlight=wheel+spin

and does anyone know how much mountain mounts cost?

mugen engine mounts will be around $500 installed
some say an engine damper / torque damper might ease the wheel hop a bit and put more power to the ground. j's racing engine $400 installed

i have a typeS.. had it since new, and i notice front wheel spin man from 1st to 2nd, only due to a loss of traction, and then also from 2nd to 3rd, just all depends on how high your revs are and how quick you shift.. but i must warn you don't do it too often otherwise you will see your gearbox and diff oil spilling out from behind your car LOL

Well the guys in clubrsx, most of them have my experience with wheel hops, i was dragging and if i rev up to 8000rpm, i get rear wheel hop and a little spins. I havent notice any front wheel spins though

Maybe it's the front bouncing but you feel like it is the rear?! Get someone to video tape you doing it. (In your driveway (jk!) of course, don't want to risk any accidents)

If a FWD wheel hops at the front, while a RWD wheel hops at the rear, does that mean AWD will do bunny hops? *BOING* * BOING* *BOING*

I get the same thing with launching... and it 'feels' like it's coming from the back... but I doubt it - doesn't make sense then...

Just trying to get traction that's all...

its impossible for it to come from the back. how can free spinning hubs possibly get wheelspin. it would be like a RWD car getting front wheelspin.

refer to my link on my 2nd post, the clubrsx peeps are farmiliar with the situation. I definately feel its from the back. Anyhow, i will bring my car in and ask about the engine mount and let them see whats really causing it. Oh Hi risxy :D we will test our car when we meet up next time ok hehehe

i'm driving a dc5r and i found that once you mod. a bit and wil hav a similar problem...so wat i recog. you should ask some1 who pretty good in launching and teach you how to reduce the launching skills...
PS. my fren had a type S and had exactly same problem as you...you can try to install innovative engine mount or mugen mount or ESSM...that's will help you a bit even you still haven learn how to launch :)

its just wheel hop/axle hop/axle tramp what ever you want to call it and it defo ain't coming from the rear.
do the same launch in teh wet and it will definately happen, engine mount inserts/torque damper will minimise it but you will get more vibration in the cabin from them, pretty much all dc5's do it.

Vupham: It wheel hops, I was told to get better dampening systems to help with that.

getting some 10" wide tyres in the rear should fix the problem.

It’s defiantly axle tramp. Normal.
