Ok guys i finally decided this about my $8000 transmittion repair

If i am going to have to replace the auto transmittion anyway, is it possible to change my car to a manual??? I heard that it could be done. If so, around how much would it cost and what method would be the best for doing it???? (like from wreckers or any other recommendations for specific mechanics?)

Once again my car is a civic VTi 96 Auto. i live in sydney

THANKS

Less than $1500? That's pretty cheap. And I always thought there are hassles changing from AT to MT?

Guess you'll have some leftover change to do some further mods hey :D

From what I've heard, its roughly $1500-$2000. If possible, why don't you spend that left over change for an engine conversion aswell? Are you after performance or did you just want to replace your broken gearbox?

What's your future plans for it?

i did the auto to manual conversion in my ED....it was easy as in that cos its cable clutch... the only difference in hydro clutch is you have to weld brackets for the slave and master cylinder

nah i just only want to replace the broken gearbox, i dont want anymore hassles with auto gearbox's anymore so thinking of changing to a manual. I just want the cheapest and smoothest conversion at a reasonable price.

would the car perform just as well after the conversion???

would make life easy if you source the parts you need, pedal box , master cylinder , the linkages and stick , gear box , pressure plate , clutch , and fly wheel , computer , dash cluster , drive shafts , new loom, etc

its a big job, otherwise sell your car and buy a manual

I had a transmission done for the ute. @ Blacktown for around $1500-$1700
Its best to change it asap if you think that everytime when your car goes stationary at a light or so, it takes time to pick up speed once you step on the accelerator.

Thats what happen to the ute. It doesnt go until it reaches 60

As most people have said already, its possible and it will cost around the $1500 mark.
I had the swap done to my civic, manuals are more fun
