today my RSM registered a new highest rpm @ 8,900 rpm
there have been many discussions saying the B18c7 fuel cut comes in at 8,250rpm and ppl have made conclusions about needle momentum ect.
was wondering how accurate do people find the RSM coz it reads off the rpm signal sent to the ECU.

the fuel cut for b18c7 is at 8600 rpm, i have had my rsm spike to 10,500 rpm before on a stock engine, someone told me that it was due to a power spike sent to the rsm which causes it to read a higher rpm than what it is really revving to.

fuel cut at 6000rmp for DC5 at stationary
so you can't just vtec neutral

Your correct man, I tried to vtec my dc5s in neutral and it just cut off at 6k rpm.. only can vtec while in gears.

my VTiR used to cut at 8100, well, it still does, but it is controling a B20VTEC...

here is official Honda words used to describe the various USDM DC2 fuel cuts (same for AUSDM):

well... i'm a B16'er but when I had RSM-II on my JDM B16A..

it showed on my guage cluster rev-cut at about 8600 and on RSM it read 8631 or something..

what does your guage cluster show ? they're pretty darn accurate. but that is a high rev-cut unless B18C(R).

its a B18C7 (audm Type R)
the gauge cluster shows the redline starting at 8,400
