I've been running my amps negative from the chassis in the boot and it all works fine, no complaints really. but i was wondering if it would make any difference running straight from the negative of the battery. My cousin and all his mates do it this way and there systems seem to go pretty good. Was thinkn that this would probably be better casue would be less resistance through cable than throughout chassis...??? Watz ur opinions.. Reckon would be better to wire up this way??

As long as the ground from your amp to the chasis makes a good contact you should be fine for normal purposes.

there is very little resistance through the chassis...leave it that way unless your battery is in the boot

You gotta think of the size of your chassis. Even tho theres is very little resistance in your chassis, its one huge mofo of a thing so makes no difference. If you are really concerned about grounding, upgrade the little cable which runs off of the negative battery terminal to the chassis with some welder cable (not the welding cable, the one that provides the earth). This cable allows a hge amount of current through it, and is probably a tad overkill, but its cheaper than normal earthing cable and runs more current. You can get it from those hardware wholesalers or from metal engineering places.

I AGREE.... good contact means

It will find the least ressitive path to the battery negative terminal.

yes it will find the least resistive path to the battery but for your every day stereo just keep the ground wire as thick and short as possible with a good contact surface area and it will be fine

So long as your earth cable from the battery to the body is good (ie the right size) then any strong contact on the body is fine.
