Hi guys,

I'm pondering the idea of building an N/A B16A in an Ek hatch that will do low 13's down the quarter mile.
I was looking in an old thread and someone replyed that to do this it would cost a lot, Turboing would cost half as much or something along those lines.

Can you guys please give me an approximate cost in ($AU) that would get my ek hatch doing low 13's on an N/A B16A2.

I did try search to see if anyone has asked this before, but i couldn't find anything.

Regards,
Nick

With that engine, and that displacement it will be costly to do this. Very possible to do, I almost did, but I went to a bigger block instead. The daily driveability would be sacrificed a lot to do a low 13 sec b16a2 also. Your ek hatch is also a little heave, so some body mods will have to be done to help. compression and displacement and the machine shop will be your friend. N/A is expensive, I know first hand. I spent 3 times on my engine what my friend did, because he started out with a b18c jdm type-r in a lighter car, and had the lsd I was lacking, and he ran a 13.04 in the 1/4 where i will be doing hopefully a 13.6 or so. We'll see in sept.

If you want some specific details I can help, I dont know your knowledge, I always assume everyone knows what I do to be polite. I would recomend as a better platform, and to save a lot of money and headach to start with at least a jdm type-r 96-newer in the ek.

Yeah, it would be great if you could give me some specific detail and stuff to do this. Because I don't know to much about it.

it'l get you past there^^^....

not sure about low 13's, but you'd be looking at $10-15k to dip into the 13sec bracket, but going the turbo road for $15k i'd be looking to be well into the 12's....

u gimi 20k aud, u will get a very quick B20 built up engine, just bolt on will do...high 12 sec...

but if u gimi 30kAud, Probably you'll be looking Full Jun Internal + Quads TB in a B16a
but you'll be looking at low 13sec...

but u can find 2nd hand parts though..it will be cheaper...

i got some parts to sell though...PM me if u want...

To get and EK hatch to do low 13's with a B16a engine (not a B16/B20 hybrid) would cost you an arm and a leg. Was that not his question?

Yes it was, But i think $50k is far too much...

You can manage it cheaper!

it can be done on a budget
not really a arm n a leg close to half the cost of your car?

just tell us how much u got to spend on your car...then from there, we might have an idea that u will reach the low 13sec mark or not...

easy. rip out the entire interior and anything not needed. its the easiest way to improve speed when NA

nah, it will weigh the same. car will weigh less though;)
but yeah. an eg is prob a better base to lighten but it think his car is an EK

to give oyu an idea.

to run low 13s (assuming slicks)

you need to trim your car down to 900ish kg (within the safety level to be able to street driving) kilo with driver

and a b16a that pumps out 145-150kw and lots of torque (out of question in b16a)

or a car that weight 800ish kilo and 130ish kw (very doable in b16a, but you may not walk out of the car if it involved in an accident)

high 12 has been done in EG with b16a built motor (on slicks.)

the car weight under 2000lbs with driver.

Or you may consider a CRX...ELF Esprit CRX is a good example...700kg...if i'm not mistaken...

But to do up a B16a, involve too much money...and after you've done up so much, what if it doesn't reach your expectation?...alot to consider dude..

its tru just sell your house and you'll be able to do it...selling your house will probally get your a 10second Na beast...if you want fast in straight line why not just turbo? its the simple solution
