Has anyone here repacked the wheel bearings in their car by themselves?

Just wanted to know if its a job you can do at home or it needs to be taken to a mechanic?

I assume you are talking about the rears? Its piss easy job if you dont mind getting your hands a bit dirty.

Got a manual?

i know the fronts have to be pressed out hydraulicly, thats why i thought fcuk it and bought some second hand ones from a wrecker...

hahaha yeh thats why i assumed he was talkin bout the rears :) and u cant repack the fronts, theyre sealed.

you might as well replace the bearrings with new ones if you gonna bother pullking them out and re-greasing them..

You can't repack these bearings. They're cartridge bearings.

Essentially for the front, you need to press them out of the hub.
For the rear, you change the whole hub.

Its not as difficult as it sounds as long as you have the right tools and...
the bearing press...Rears a simple unbolt, swap, bolt job...

yeah front and rear, disk or drum have sealed bearings.

really? i was thought pre 88 civic were cone roller bearings?

maybe not

just realised he had dc2

im sure ed's had a hub with a sealed bearing.

I could also be wrong

yeh pre ed, my rear bearings are open, but are ball in cage .
