hey pplz,

Been following the oz honda talks for a few weeks now, and found a great deal of information and inspriation amoung fellow members frm around AUS. Live in Sydney myself so, Im laying down all for any suggestions and arrugments involved for this setup.

I have a 98 Honda Prelude Si. Bought it dead stock. My plans for the car is to get it at least 130kw atw.
This is what i plan for my project lude 130:
Engine swap: JDM H22A swap (from SSS automovtive) $??
Hondata S200: $2000 with fitting and tuning
Skunk 2 stage 1 cams $???
Hi tech Extractors & Hi Flow cat: $1500 supply and fit (pwr gain of 12%)
CAI as well (still looking into it).

I have looked at the power gain at the moment as thats were my wallet will get burnt most I guess. I will still have to reserach the braking & handling part of the car laterz.
My most concern is the engine. Don't know if its worth the money for the JDM spec compared to the AUSM VTIR. Also w/ the exhaust system. Have been told that AUS systems are no-ware compared to the Americans or Jap branded systems as they have more R&D put into them.
My aim is to have 130kw onwards of power. Its alot, but you can't talk-da-talk unless you walk-da-walk.

you'll find they are the same. There is a type s h22 engine that will have more aggressive cams otherwise very similar. Gearbox's come in many different ratios though you may want to look at that.

Also you can come check out http://www.preludeaustralia.com where everyone would love to hear more about your project!

dont you need at a half cut to do a JDM H22a onto a Si? Diff gearbox, ECU, etc? Correct me on this. A whole engine swap can reach up to 10k, depends on engine (condition, how many km) and labour.

wont cost 10 k for the h22a into an si chassis...

personally , i rex even just sell the Si and get a vtir, coz u get sunroof, 5 stud wheels , better brakes n shit aswell

Also try www.justjap.com.au they have some cheap h22a's around. A h22a swap into a prelude isnt going to cost 10k.

He's asking for JDM H22a tho
i seen some of those engine going for around 5-7k half cut or all the things need for complete swap and i dont think labour will cheap either

i dont see the point of gettin the jdm engine for the more aggresive cams when hes gonna change them anyway

yeah i do, but is there really any point getting a JDM one if the power output is the same as AUS (JDM SIR vs AUSDM VTIR, 147kw 200hp). Beside the JDM Type S H22A (162kw 220hp) engine :)

Agreed

Sell Si, buy a Vtir.

Work the Aus spec engine instead.

easy way to get power, just boost it. :)

second option was going to go was:

install AUS H22A VTIR egine
Hondata S200
Skunk Cams stage 1
Full exhaust

but...the only thing i want to clear is if i should go local for the exhaust system or go for the brands...eg.mugna, toda etc or even custom lovefab items??

all depends on how much you want to pay for the lable, as mugen, toda, apexi, etc aint cheap.

It'd be more cost effective to get a VTiR instead - unless you love your Si to bits, in which you'd at least need to increase the braking capacity of that platform.

130 is within reach, I run standard cams with bolt ons @ 124.

No need to go JDM if you're intending to change out the cams, unless you want that 0.01 increase in CR.

I agree totally! *READ THE RULES*

(In the long run, your spending heaps of cash,to make it a bit more agressive.) why not just buy a vtir and do the cams etc rather than a whole complicated engine swap
