She hasnt even been started up yet since the rebuild. SO nervous! THis week im finish off a few little things, bolts, clamps and giving her a once over, and she will be getting tuned next week. Dyno dave is going to help me out, and is really the only guy i trust with my D's life !

After the break in im looking at pushing ~18psi out of her and revving to around 8-8500rpm. I think my intake manifold is going to hold me back at the moment with topend power, but i want to see a nice meaty power curve. It took me forever to find this gt2871r, and ive know it can produce an awsome street/strip power :)

My goals are around 110mph on the 1/4mile and ~200kw. Ive got the setup, its just a matter to see if she holds together. D-series is know for there tempramental timing problems.

I know ive got a whole heep to say, but thats all i can think of at the moment. All i know is guys, D-series can make the power that dreams are made of, do go throwing it away!

Enjoy the pics!!

Total money spent?? i dunno. Not as much as u think though. I have a totally rebuilt engine. I prolly have around 7k into it... plus the money i made by selling all my old stuff.... but im hella tightass and she hasnt been tuned yet... :) Dave is where my hard earned money is going to go, and he is going to make this thing breath fire (please??) I look for the best deal on everything. I dont mind waiting for the mail and chacing it with customs, as long as its quality and a good price! Customs wise, i paid about $300 total for everything u see. turbo/manifold/pistons/rods/gate/injectors/pump etc...

hey mate, jus wondering how much u spent turbo'ing ur car n if u think its worth it,
i got the same motor as u, same car lol n jus wondering wat i should do. turbo or b16a....also whered u get ur turbo kit?

Turbo your D-series. THe power u will make will beat those B-series no worries. Stock motors are happy at 10psi with 440cc injectors. A D-series on 5psi will beat a stock b16a. D-series is cheap to blow up, cheap to built. WHy spend b-series 1500 on a tranny? u could get a a spare d-series engine, transmission and forged internals for that price! lol... Na b-series has its place, and will make more power per PSI. But all im saying, it dont give up on the d so quickly. CHeckout www.turbo16.com for inspiration!

thanks for the comments guys. Ive been driving this lazy Liberty B4 for months now, and i reallly want to feel that turbo vtec again. Its so much fun. THis weekend i will be tightening everything up and hooking up my water lines. Its going to be ready for breakin next week! James is helping me out heeps, getting a tuner to come and start the car with my mechanic, so everything is spot-on during the critical breakin stage.

im looking at some teggy gear. Ive seen good results from a set of brembo slotted rotors which are stock replacments though. maybe a willowood big brake kit? To be honest though, i dont track it, and i never fadded before. with the old kit. I havnt increase the wait much at all, which means stopping capcity hasnt been hampered. But its always good to have extra protection.

Suspension is next on the agenda. Im looking at some Tein Flex's with EDFC! I think these babies would be badass for drag racing, with control of damper incabin. great for in between runs. Plus i'll be able to fit some slicks in there incase i dare to dritch the DR's.

Weq
22-08-2005, 09:21 PM
capacity is almost stock. on a lil bit gained through the overbore. I needed as much sleeve as i could with the pressure im gonna give it..

LSD is on the cards. its exxy to get a quaife, but OBX has just realesed a copy which ppl seem to be giving rave reviews (unlike there normal stuff!) I hear the traction u gain is HUUGE. Definatly on the cards. Clutch is a custom 4-puck prung with pressure plate.. Im kinda hopeing that this doesnt cope, so i have an excuse to pull her apart ;)

Thanks for the feedback. Zco, defaintly want to take her down WSID. SOme street legal DR's and see how she does. I dont know how my tranny with like the slicks, but its an option later when i get sick of fwd traction issues :)

AS for the cooler black. i dont know.. lol.. i like that little mouth up front. I love the looks when ppl see it. they always look twice - "Damn man, that honda is turbo..." WHen im out hunting kills it goes unnoticed though.. hmmmmm..

http://members.ozemail.com.au/~captanis/turbo/install/towing.jpg
This is what it looks like with the bar on.. those endtanks look at bit gay actually.. had no piping then though..

CHi: yeah if u paint is wrong u can loose efficency. U gotta make sure u spray a thin layer, at an acute angle so u dont coat the insides of the fins.

Thanks for the compliments. It was always meant to be a mean streeter..

AS for the teins? i was looking at getting em from the US.

DSA00-6USS1 - $1285 shipped
EDKU1-12120 - $325

all USD. u rekon they will be cheaper here?? hell im looking at importing a PWR radiator. australian made and owned, but they retail for 760 here! USD no more then $300shipped! thats crazy stuff.

And to all the NA guys who are looking at the thread, if u like what u see, i can get CAI kits. Its cheap, and and i mean cheap. same for the cooler kits, just PM me and u'll be surpirsed - all local!

THe walbro pump was from a friend in the US. THey go for about 90-110~shipped off ebay or most places in the US. THere is a place local who sell em, 170AUD shipped. cant remmber the name though!!

Nice work Weq, very impressive.

The point here is that tuebo setups can be done relatively cheaply, if you are game enough to fabricate your own intake piping, and spend a little time sourcing the right components.

I've also found the lesser "ricey" exhaust places do just a good job, if not better, than some of these in vogue shops.

Again, great result Weq. You wont be dissapointed with D.Daves tune.

Snoop, PM me if u need anything.

Paul, no problems at all. usps.com is the cheapest shipping around (just dont get surface mail, it sucks!). if ur stuff gets stopped as customs, just grab a 'invoice' from whoever sent it to u and u'll be set. tlel them also to keep the declared value as low as possible also..

As far as proress is concerned, the turner has been booked and its going to be started next saturday. I spend th day today fitting everything up and its all come together quite well. All thats left to do is to do one manifold bolt up (tricky) and do up the oil feed on the turbo (tricky). and then she is set!

after this weekend, my fuse is wearing thin, and i realllly want this car running!

basically i did everything saturday, was all sweet, then when it came to attach the last thing (oil feed) there was no way it was happening. So 4hrs later and removing the entire setup again, everything was finally over and she is ready to be started up next weekend!!
