vtec controller

hi, just need thoughts do you ppl think a vtec controller is worth its $700
duz it make much difference besides u bein able to set wen u want ur vtec to kick in....*confused*

ive herd that vtec controllers are bad, as u can make the vtec kick in at 4 or wateva but ive been told that wen you bring it to lower RPMs, then vtec will also stop working earlier.
eg. if it normally kicks in at 5,000rpm and finishes at fuel cut at 7,500 or wateva,
wen u put it down to 3,000 it will stop vtec at 5,500... is this true? i certainly hope not...

why do people alter the factory settings??? i don't understand, i've been told that you lose power changing the vtec kick in? unless you have done internal work?

ive heard that u lose power top end if u set it too low... if u do get a vtec controller i read on another post that the best rpm to set it at is wen vtec normally kicks in...

not always the case. i read an article at hondata and they said when tuning stock cars they raise the redline and the vtec cross over by 500rpm for optimum power.

For $700 its not worth it. Honda have got it pretty much spot on. And the gains you could get it would not be worth it. Put the money into a exhaust, or headers, or something else that will provide more gains

i've heard they are rice and make your car look super duper hot sh*t.

On a serious note, there are always benefits to being able to adjust your stock settings - but not if you have got a stock vehicle... An item like a V-Afc which is prolly what is costing you $700 (though i haven't seen one at that price for a LONG time) has the ability to offer mild gains to mild mods - smooth out the negative effect of bolt on mods to a stock ecu by just bolting shit up to your car.
