Rly44 has made custom shrouds and fitted them to OEM headlights which have been modified.

It would be alot easier to get some of those "JDM Style" projector headlights, remove the existing projectors and replace them with proper HID equipment. Generally a lot less fabrication is required.

Excuse any spelling / grammer mistakes. I've very tired.

I've only ever purchased projectors, ballasts and shrounds from the USA. Price varies depending on the manufacturere and which vehicle they came off.

BMW E46, Acura TSX, Honda S2k, Mercedes E55 and Audi RS6 are the usual donners. You should be able to order the projectors and ballasts directly from a BMW/Honda/Mercedes/Audi dealrer in Australia, but I expect the prices will be quite high.

Generally, You can expect to pay between $150 - $250 USD for a set of good second hand projectors and ballasts.

Hid planet offer two very good kits, which include either Bosch or Valeo Projectors with Hellaballasts. See:

Instructions will vary from car to car. People use different methods. Some modify OEM headlights, and fabricate projector mounts. Some People modify aftermarket projecter housings (angel eyes and what not).

Try searching http://hidplanet.com/forums/ for model specific information.

Personally, i've been down both roads. Aside from an R32 Skyline, I've found that modifying OEM headlights can involve some painfull fabrication. I'd much rather modify soem after market projector housings.

IMHO, you are on the right track. Get "JDM Projectors" off Ebay USA (less teh $100 USD normally), chuck away teh projectors that they come with and retro fit proper HID projectors.

They are completely illeagle at the present. Several members of Skylines Australia (SAU) are in the process of trying to get them engineered on a few R32s.

HID systems must be ADR approved. For example, when importing a R34 GTR, the HId system is removed and "destroyed" during compliance. Regular headlights are fitted from a GT-T.

After compliance is completed, the R34 GTR owner normally convientiantly finds a set of HID headlights in the dumpster outside the complaince shop :)

The problem is that the ADR requires them to be self leveling, and have auto washers fitted. Washers are easy to retro fit, but a self leveling system would be a nightmare (and when correctly set up, unrequired). Fit washers, correctly calibrate the the retrofit, and find a sympathetic engineer.

Note that alot of locally delivered cars fitted with OEM HID kits do not have a self leveling system :/

99% of kits are utter shit. Especially the ones on eBay, and parading across the pages of Autosalon and HOT4s etc. Do not believe what the ads say, they are simply trying to make a buck off you. Don't believe anything ever printed in Autosalon or HOT4s either (Does anyone take those rags seriously anyway?).

Can you please take a photo of your cars head lights pointing at a wall at night? I suspect that you set up is rather poor.

Those two EKs in my first post are not my cars. They are from the USA. I've yet to fit a set to a Civic, but will be doing a EG hatch in the future.

See my last post for instructions (IE - See the links I posted.)
