Does anyone know how to do the "crinkle paint" effect that the covers come out with ex-Honda? I want to strip a spare cover back to bare metal and then make it look like it's just out of the factory.

hey post a step by step for us ...

rowie: you can buy the paint your looking for at the hardware... its just a normal spray can that you spray like normal spray paint, and while its drying it creates the effect!

Nope - I mean the original non-smooth paint effect that came on the B series engines.

sentanta i think that effect is from when the cover is removed from the mould. i dont think you can recreate it.

did you replace the cover gasket??

Rowie

The valve cover gasket is pretty durable. And depending how long its been sitting there, it should just come straight off. But could be a different story for 15 year old cars with original engine, and the rocker cover never taken off, I would imagine. But you should be pretty right.
