Have a look in the trader forum man. egSi stocks the whiteline range in which you can get yourself larger front and rear sway bars :)

I think the Honda 7th Gen Vi Hatch got front and rear sway bar too (correct me if i am wrong, could be the suspension parts) But I am sure there is a bar between the suspension.

Not sure if its really applicable as its pretty rare but AUDM EG4 have front only, however JDM EG4 has front and rear (14mm) and EG6 LCA for anyone interested in doing sway bar upgrade would need dif mounts and dif suspension.

Can someone advise what can be swapped to what? I want to know if anything bigger fits a DA9 (OEM) as in will a DC2R swaybar fit? same goes for a Civic EG Gli, can i just get an EG5 one? or are the mounts different?

Rather than another 1000 posts hitting here, compatibility across the models would enhance this thread even more! Thanks for the people contributing!

I don't know with DA Tegs, sorry, but i can help u with the EGs since i have 1 myself:)

lower spec EG (breeze/GL/GLi) can use stock Si/VTi rear swaybar, but u have to get EG Si/VTi rear LCAs (they have rear swaybar mounting holes while the others don't)...

U also have the option to use DC2 or DC2R rear swaybar...DC2 rear swaybar has exactly the same diameter (14mm) as EG Si/VTi, and u have the option to use DC2R rear swaybar too, however, u need to use rear subframe reinforcement kit such as ASR, Whiteline etc to prevent any subframe tears and also to have the same swaybar subframe mounting points as the DC2R rear swaybar...

hope that helps and not confuse u even more:p

Anytime ;). Word on the street is that the stock DC5R front sway bar is a hollow 23mm diameter item with 2.8mm wall thickness, which apparently makes it equivalent in stiffness to a solid 20.8mm bar.

Anyone know if the stock 24mm DC2/DC2R Front swaybar is hollow, a guy at whiteline said if its stock and its 24mm then "it's definantly hollow".

If so might be worth considering an upgrade to a solid 27/24.

Cheers.

so if i was to get 24mm whiteline shelby adj swaybars front and back, they would be better than oem?

Will they give you higher roll stiffness and hence less body roll, yes. Will this make your car any faster, probably not.

Hey guys,

can anyone deffinately confirm

Eg Vti front sway = 22mm
Jdm series 1 front sway dc2r = 24mm

I just measured a front dc2r sway and it looks pretty close to 22mm not 24, or possibly am i measureing in the incorrect spot?

27 mm ID bushes = 27mm roll bar?

Civic ES (sedan) and EU (hatch) both come with front and rear sway bars. i believe the rear is 14mm, and the front is 20mm. don't quote me on that though.

Jazz Gen 1's have a dedicated front swaybar. At the rear the trailing arms are joined by a beam that, as well providing lateral location, also contibutes to the antiroll. So although it isn't a separate swaybar as such they do have a noticeable amount of rear antiroll.

dc2 rear sway bar stock is 14mm?

so (and i'm sorry if this is the wrong place, didnt want to make a whole thread about it) am i better off getting a 24mm rear sway or a 27mm. is 27mm just overkill?

Need to tell us more. Ie is it a track car or daily driver.

You also need to look at your front sway bar as 'bigger isn't always better'. 27mm bar will also put a lot of stress on your sub frame if you don't reinforce it properly. So there's no quick answer :)

cheers for the response

the car is my daily, but i love giving it a squirt on the twisties on the weekend, so essentially a good amount of handling in that respect is what i'm after.

I have a front and rear strut tower bar, and am keeping the front sway bar stock. The rear I am tossing up between 24mm or 27mm (27mm is the same price?!) and just curious as to what would be better, especially given they are the same price and as you said bigger isnt always better!

I would go for the 24mm bar not the 27mm.

What you need to realise is that swaybars, along with springs, dampers, alignment and a myriad of other factors, are generally used as a handling tuning tool to obtain a faster setup on track. Since you shouldn't be driving even close to track pace on the street then the fastest setup shouldn't be the goal, instead the goal should be to create a car that is both fun to drive and safe.

With this in mind I wouldn't go for the 27mm bar simply because it will significantly increase the rear roll stiffness and make the car more likely to punt you off the road backwards at speed. Which will probably ruin your day. Honestly a JDM DC2R bar would probably do the job.

hiru

what you said is spot on about what i want to achieve mate! unfortunately dont have the moolah for a dc2r audm or jdm lol. i'll go for the 24mm then.

i'm not so much going for lap times as i am handling ability. and your comment about getting punted off the road backwards was in fact one of my concerns! i hit an oil patch in the wet around a bend a month or two back and nearly did that! i think my eagle f1's on the front saved me there lol

chargeR makes a good point about the 27mm bar there. So for your application the 24mm is probably the best. Gluck!

Swaybars IMO are the best bang for buck handling mod.

hiru
19-10-2009, 04:53 PM
cheers.. yeah looks like he has a dc5 and i'm after one for a dc2. got a pretty good offer on a mfactory one, but its 19mm. whats the general opinion? in comparison to a 24mm that is. noticible difference? for a daily with a bit of twisties fun... the price difference is about $50-%60. the 24mm one is whiteline...

hiru
07-11-2009, 08:08 PM
okay bumpin this up and looks like its decision time. goin the whiteline for sure, 3pt adjustable. couple of questions:
1. 18mm, 20mm and 22mm are my options. for a daily and a bit of twisties action on the side, what would you recommend;
2. how strong is the dc2 rear subframe and;
3. do i need to get a tie bar to go with this?;

cheers guys. again i was going to make a thread, but i thought this might be better. the price difference between the three sizes is negligible, so that's not an issue.

RtN
07-11-2009, 08:54 PM
22mm is the most ideal to reduce your body roll, so I'd go with that. The subframe would more than likely tear down the track if you don't use a sub frame reinforcement kit such as ASR, Beaks or something like that. An ASR will act like a tie bar also so you wouldn't need that.

hiru
07-11-2009, 09:05 PM
cool, cheers for the info. forgive the noob quesion, but what is an ASR? or is that a brand like beaks? In which case isnt it just a tie bar?

RtN
07-11-2009, 09:22 PM
An ASR is a brace that sits on your subframe holding your sway bar and spreading its load out. You can find the kits at traders on Ozhonda Such as JDMyard or through ebay. The beaks I was talking about wasn't the tie bar it was the subframe reinforcement kit. Though the ASR/Whiteline kits are more preferrable as they are one piece. The beaks I was talking about is this:

http://www.beaksproducts.com/SRK_EG_DC_Sub_Reinforcement.htm

Hope that helped.

Here's what an ASR looks like.

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2649/3957309159_2931d76737.jpg

That's also got Beaks Tie bar attached, which is useless in this case because it is already using an ASR. It is just there for appearance.

hiru
07-11-2009, 10:05 PM
hmm ok interesting. really appreciate the advice mate. so just to clarify, ASR is in effect a brand right? I had a look on the whiteline site and couldn't find a similar part. any help would be really appreciated - if you could link us to the part on the whiteline site that would be awesome!

RtN
09-11-2009, 01:11 AM
yes, asr is just a name. But we just call it that coz so common. umm sorry cant find it myself, most likely discontinued? Or you could give them a call. ASR looks better anyway and more readily available than whiteline kits. There's also CT-Engineering ones but they are hard to source over here.

hiru
09-11-2009, 01:15 PM
cool cheers... the reason i asked about the whiteline ones is that i know i can get their parts for cheaper. hopefully i can locate a sub frame reinforcement too!

cheers for the help mate

i need some answers, gona be installing a 24mm rear whiteline sway soon, but im also thinkin of upgrading the front sway bar in order to reduce more further unhealthy roll.

is there acutally aftermarket front sway bars for dc2's ( a production from whiteline) or am i better off jus upgrading the endlinks and the bushings with the stock front sway bar.

Or get a few open ended spanners and use them to check the diameter.
Or get a shifter, adjust it to the diameter then measure it with a ruler.
