I am purchasing a header with a 2.5 inch collector, howeva i have got a catback system with a 2.25 inch diameter, what is the best way to merge the 2 pipes i.e 2.5 header into 2.5 cat into 2.5 to 2.25 reducer into 2.25 system?

Is this how its normally done?

I dont want to run a 2.5 system as i believe it is too big for my engine(b16a)
Advice much appreciated:)

Goto an exhaust place and they should be able to make a lil adaptor

definetly go 2 1/4 the size of the outlet on the cat want make a differance as it will most likely still be the same sized internals in it
so you will be purchasing a high flow cat?
when you go to get it fitted the exhaust shop will have a machine which can reduce and expand pipe sizes and they will just do this to your current system
I have got a 2 1/2" exhaust with custom headers the collector on these reduce to 2" then flair back out to 2 1/2"

yes it does:) , thats why i was asking the best method of merging 2.5"(header) into 2.25"(catback system)

i.e before or after the cat(buy a cat that has either 2.25in/out or 2.5in/out)

oh sorry dude, misread the thread before  Umm, i dont think they make a cat with a 2.5" in and 2.25" out though. Your best bet would be going to an exhaust place and having them make you a reducer or might be lucky and they might have something like this on the shelf.
