friend took my car for a drive and had accidently reved the car all the way to 9000rpm, now i dunt know if this rattling noise was around before or after this incident happen, i know noone can really identify what the problem may be, but i was just wondering if it was just something that may have gotten loose, as my car still runs fine!, nothing smells or looks burnt, the only problem now is that scary mild rattling vibration noise i get after revving the car abit. Just hoping its not some late reaction and tommorow my car wont start :(

Cheers
RJ

oops sorry, yeah i did that and i think the noise is comming from the block, somewhere situated under where the air box is or by the throttle body. soemwhere in those areas..

first thing next week when i get the chance.. its due for service anyway..:(

Hi...

I leant my car to a friend a few times and when he gave it back I ALWAYS hear new noises! In my case it's parranoia (I think that's spelled correctly).

Could be the same with you? If it really worries you take the car to a mechanic, if it's running as usual I am not sure I would be too concerned. At least not until something goes wrong.

open ur bonnet , leave it up - leave the engine on in neutral.
Now , rev the engine via the throttle butterfly spring ( with ur thumb etc) SLOWLY to locate the noise IF its in the engine bay....

how did u get your em1 to 9000rpm. Isn't the rev limiter at like just past 8000? I know mine is

the only way you can over rev it is on a downshift. unless you have an aftermarket computer in it.

Rainz lets arrange a day for me to come out and have a look at it bro, i have a feeling it could possibly be your exhaust manifold, because i remember the civic used to do that after i'd give it a whipping. Just let me know when your free so i can have a look at it

check out if your flex pipe is making the noise. it could be lose and making a racket everytime u rev hard enough. happens alot.

im guessing it could might be the gearbox bearing?

hrmm thanks for the input guys.. doesnt sound like it comming from the gearbox tho.. but could be the flexpipe or exhaust manifold.. comming from those areas..

if u did rev it to 9000rpm and ur getting bottom end noise. could be a spun bearing.

man hondas can take 9000rm stock dont worry i meen it dosent sound like u sit at 9000 everyday

if its cumming from down low in the engine bay then it could be the exhaust or box
or mabe water pump if its screeching and if u ran out of oil!!! it could be the cranck , bearings, or cams ( check ur oil level )
but dont worry from wat u said it sounds like something is loose in ur intake area
is the sound metalik or more like rattling plastik ro is it a squeek sound?

if it was ur exhaust it would sound like a lawn mower every time u hit the gas hard

spun bearing -i have a good story this one time we drove a ZC crx from penrith to blacktown (geat western 40km)with the oil indicator on the last hill was in first gear struggling. That baby got me 2streets away from my house when it stalled with my foot on the gas (thakyou so much) we pulled the block apart and found the bearings melted and made a C shape

Could be dizzy bearings. Put your head next to the dizzy when it's running

my stock em1 redline starts at 8000rpm then rev cut off is at 8500rpm which flickers when you hit it (flickers up and down a few hundred rpms)..........i know this coz i've been there quite a few times. i've had no problems after travelling to high rpm's and back. hope you pinpoint the problem dude.
