spark plugs

hey guys, i have a 94 civic vti d16y auto and i need to change my spark plugs. i asked honda and they sell the ordinary platnium spark plugs for 4 buck each

then i saw these iridium ngk spark plus. repco sells them for 20 bucks each/ auto1 sells them for 15 bucks each

do they really make any difference, ive got a auto, d16 vtec. will i feel any difference in power and in economy, are they worth getting

what about the iridium sparks, is it worth getting, they say it lasts 80-100,000 k

everyone will give you a different answer. Many say the iridiums are the best (maybe cause they paid $20 a plug), where as others swear the standard are just as good, but require changing more often. I use the cheaper NGK plugs and have no reason to complain.

NGK BKR 7e-11 - best plug for all B D and H engine ;) replace them every 2500km. period.

ive got 4 x new BKR 6e-11's (because ^^james^^ insisted on 7e11's when my car was tuned..!)

u can have all 4 6e-11's for $5 if u r in brisbane. they are fine for an auto d16y

The spark plug has two primary functions:
To ignite the air/fuel mixture
To remove heat from the combustion chamber

A common misconception is that changing spark plugs will result in a large power increase. In most cases, removing even seriously worn out spark plugs will only result in very modest power gains, typically about 1-2% of total engine output. This could be even less for computer-controlled vehicles, primarily because most newer vehicles have more powerful ignition systems and the vehicle's computer can make adjustments so that vehicle operation seems smoother and more seamless.

What Iridium plugs have in advantage is
Long service life. around 60,000kms (not the so claim 100,000)
Extremely good ignitability and a stronger spark
Fuel Efficiency

Most new cars uses the iridium 0.8mm as it increases the Fuel Efficiency but with an increase of only a few %, I doubt you can feel the advantage of better
power, acceleration, response etc. On older cars you will be able to feel it.

I found this to be goo reading on Spark Plugs;

There are different materials like copper, irridium etc... Some people swear by either. You'll get mixed opinions on spark plugs. If you go the perfomance route you might consider changing your leads as well.

Not sure what I would do so maybe this will be no help at all :)
