hi ppl,

I drive a honda acccord 94 vti manual and its really hard to find any short shifters for this car. i was thinking of chopping the gear stick down. Is there any bad side effects from doing that? Can i shorten the gear changing as well?
Just need some advice.

I think it will be stiffer to change gear (physics)

get a Forbidden short shifter, much MUCH better than cutting the stocker down.

Is it cause your accord is a H22a?
will i have to any slight adjustments?

the prelude shifter wont bolt straight in.

you have to use the accord base plate and the prelude stick....you also have to grind about 5mm off the metal tabs on erach side of the prelude stick otherwise the stick will hit the stoppers on the base plate and you wont be able to engage gear properly.

I discovered this when i tried to bolt the prelude shifter straight in myself.

here is a pic, my prelude front cut also came with an OEM leather gear knob. You will notice the actual gear knob is alot taller than the accord one.

i think its you kenny lol. the knob is exactly the same as 5th gen AUDM prelude...they came on the JDM 4th gen prelude SIR...even had the gear pattern stamped into the leather but i wore that off from playing with my knob too much.

thats odd Cam, it should just bolt in, given that the lude short shifter bolts straight in...

nickiipoohz, given that the shifter is a short shifter for a lude, its shorter than the stock lude one and the shifts are a lot shorter ;)

it is odd but there was no way it was gonna work with out modification...it bolted in easy enough but the mods were needed so it could engage the gears because the stick would run out of throw before any gear was properly engaged.

yeah well mine bolted in with no modifications h22a Accord. also your gear stick looks higher than mine and mines a prelude one. Ken's seen it so yeah thats why he said your gear stick looked long.

which works exactly the same poid's bought..
short as. and works and looks.. like OEM :D

wilson.. when u read this. i'll give u a hand to install it.. got mine in today.. dood. i reckon its one of the best mods i've acheieve doing buy urself..

the prelude base is way bigger and layed out.. couldnt use the lude base.. only 2 bolts lined up.. better use the accord one.. more safe.. :D

like i said, the gear stick looks higher because of the gear knob im using, if i were to use an accord knob it would look the same as yours becasue the accord knob screws down more than the prelude one....i experimented myself when i did the mod. So basically, the chrome ring that the gear boot clips to sits aboit higher up on the stick than when using an accord knob.

the lude knob is much nicer to hold too.

Im pretty sure mines a prelude shifter because i bought a whole front and had to dismantle the centre console in it to get the shifter out.

if u dont mind me asking where did u get your shifter from nikipooz cos i heard they are pretty rare to come across on their own.
