View Full Version : Guard Rolling made no difference... so what could be the issue?

Not sure if anyone else has had this problem… but I recently bought some new wheels for my Integra (18” G-Max Wheels with Falken tyres). Before that the car was stock as far as the suspension was concerned. Before lowering the car with King Springs, I fitted the new wheels on and drive it for a few hours and immediately noticed that the rear left wheel was rubbing against the guard. What was unusual was that it was just only the left rear wheel (i.e. only when I turn hard right into a corner).

I was told that rolling both rear guards would solve this issue… got that done and no change at all. I checked to see if it was rubbing against the inside of the car… nope. So my question is could this be a camber issue as all other wheels seem to have no issues at all? Please remember that the rear left wheel was rubbing against the guard before I lowered the car and the same thing is happening when it has been lowered and all other wheels have no problem whatsoever.

Cheers!

Does it scrub all the time or just over bumps and that? If its all the time, its most likely some sort of alignment issue.(Maybe the car was guttered and there is a bent sus. arm or somthing like that) If its only on big bumps and the other side doesnt do it, your shock absorber on that side is probably on the way out.

Could be an alignment issue. Otherwise, the rims may just be too wide!

The wheel specs are 215/35Z/R18… if the wheels were too wide wouldn't there be severe rubbing on both rear wheels???
No previous accidents at the rear of the car.
Rubbing only occurs when turning hard right and when going over large bumps etc.

have to agree with bigang on this one, sounds like a dodgy shocker. shocks in my civic are completely had it and the damn thing scrapes all the time over bumps and this is on stock sussy with slightly wider rims

think it could be your shocks as well....like mention above, cause the width of your tyres is ok think its time you need to change your shocks

Thanks guys, after checking out the shocks they do seem like they are due for replacement. On that note what are a good brand of shocks that will do the job but won't hurt my pockets so much.

Cheers.

I would recommend Koni's not cheap, but worth every penny.

how's deep is your pocket??? hehaehahe what you looking at to spend though?I’m a big believer of you get what you pay for… but having said that I just what this rubbing issue to go away. Also I do not race my car nor do I drive my car hard so racing shocks etc won’t be necessary.

Cheers.
