View Full Version : Replacing 6" rears in dc2!
Hi guys!
Has anyone replaced the rear 6" speaker with 6.5" speakers into the stock rear speakers place!?!? and if so how?, and what modification needed to be done? I know front and rear are all 6" but the thing is i already have these speakers and i dont wanna buy another set.
Thanks!

You'll have to take off the rear panels obviously and just try and see if the speaker will fit in the hole. If it does u're
damn lucky but if it doesnt, you'll need to shave the surround to widen the hole to allow the 6.5" to fit in.
I've done it in my EM1, 6" at the front and had to shave the surround to allow me to put in a 6.5".

this might help you .. as he kinda has the same problem
so i have the same problem that ur having as well
good luck
Thanks for the input guys!
I had a look at them lastnight and i really dont think they will fit. I think i'll have to cut or shave the surrounding plastic to widen the holes for them to fit, just like what J-mun and 57udd mentioned.
Good luck to u too saimons!
Anyways i'll see what happens and let you guys know. Thanks!

What are you planning on cutting, im about to install some new Alpine type R 6.5" in the rear, all you need to do is remove the stock speaker and any basket.
Get some mdf spacers, if you live by hornsby you can get them from westfield hornsby at the car shop by dicksmith for 13 bucks. You may have to drill some holes in the mbf board, but it should be relatively straight forward, just make sure they dont rattle, so it all sits solid.
Oh and make sure you get the power cables hooked up right, if you need the wiring diagram, let meknow ill post it up

Hey - thats where i work! Come visit me ozhonda ppl and i'll hook ya up :p hehe...
I've installed some 6" speakers in the rear of a dc2 b4...that panel is a bitch to get off. If u get a speaker with a small mounting depth, u can get it to fit in the hole without taking off the panel. The ones i used were the pioneer tsa1670 which are 40ish mm deep.
Good luck with the install man...

whoa, 13bucks for MDF spacers? kinda pricey aye?... we sell them for $8 bucks at JB... hehe... but yeah, easier if you just buy your own MDF and cut it out... works out cheaper if u want to skimp .
yeah like VTECACCORD said, just use an MDF spacer if needed. Good luck again
