EG DILEMMA..................

hey guys im totally lost here

i have an EG5 WIHT A D16Y1 engine

does that make sense???????????

what does that mean???????

sum1 in a past topic said that the EG5 HAS A B16A and sum1 else said the EG5 HAS A NON VTEC DOHC ENGINE and sum1 else said IT HAS A SOHC VTEC...........i know its vtec because the rocker cover says VTEC onit and i can feel the vtec at high revs........

can sum1 help me with the total description to this plzzzzz

EG5 is TWO variations of civic in Australia - a EG5 Si 91-93 , which came with a DOHC D16a8 engine.

The next , is the EG5 vti (93-95) , which was a SOHC , which came with the vtec D16yX .

There ALSO was a EG5 (with a ZC/d16a8) in Japan...and im sure in other provinces too.

its a d16y1, same as mine. SOHC vtec - same as the d16z6 used in the american varients (EX's) of the same period.

mines a d16y8 SOHC VTEC same as yours buddy, and no the EG's never came out with a B16a you prob read a thread where someone had one fitted :D

WRONG.
In Japan there was Eg's with a b16a(eg6 and ?)...the b16a engine was made before the EG shape even existed ;)

EG6 is the only EG with a B16A in it. The B16A has been around since 88-89, ask Setanta he has one in his EF9. The EG's came in a few varieties, but the EG6 was a JDM import. It came with a 170HP B16A engine with some other goodies (electric fold-in mirrors, fog lamps, extra compartments)
