View Full Version : Does anyone else hate this forum? Mostly because of the moderators?

I personally believe the members of this site are harassed more then need be by the moderators. Some of there comments are inappropriate and thoughtless. I also find that many strings that are just getting interesting and have relevant information are closed.
Just recently I posted information regarding wheels and than while searching for further information in google found an american distributor that sells them for a great price. I have a few mates on this site who, like myself are keen on these rims and in my thread asked if anyone else was interested if they could PM me. Group buys I am aware are not allowed, which I think is ridiculous, but no other trader on this site has these wheels and I have asked several of them. So as far as I am concerned I was causing no one harm but only a benefit to the member of this site. It is also very difficult to find these wheels. Anyway then comes the moderator who of course adds his power trippin comment to the tread and closes it.
Tip for the moderators: If you continue to condemn and ridicule every single post you will loose members. If you loose members less people will shop in the traders section. If this happens you will loose your traders. This can't be good for business.
I frequently visit the traders section, and intend to make use of it as I modify my car. I do find it useful. I have modded my previous civic and a ton of money went into a h22a conversion and many other mods. And I intend to do similar mods to my next car.
Unfortunately I do not appreciate bad customer service and arrogance. And as far as I am aware I am the customer here and this is a site I refuse to visit in it's current state.
Please do not close this thread moderators, instead let your members provide feedback so as you may be able to improve the way this site is managed in the future.

i personally neva had any issue with mods and admin... we have over 5000 member in here... without rules... its gonna be a mess.... plus OH is a place for us honda fans to share interest... not to buy parts mainly.... so really u r not treated as a customer... u r only a customer in the eye's of traders not the forum itself...

Somethings need to be closed and some may not, but it's hard for me to say without an example... maybe you should post a link to the thread you're speaking of?
I have seen some threads that were closed for a reason beyond my knowledge of the T&Cs, but if you're actually posting a thread to complain about it give us an example please... :)

You make some good points kenshin i can only help you with the comment regarding group buys. Ozhonda has taken a position on such activities, as i see it they have, in the bigger picture, created an environment which is less prone to people getting ripped of for what ever reason. Ozhonda has also set up a marketplace to allow for people that have paid a fee to sell goods. By allowing members to have group buys they are in many respects biting the hand that feeds them.

If we are here many to share information than what I posted should not have been closed. There are members on here who would love to get their hands on these rims. Your 2 cents don't really count when you were the person who closed my thread in the first place.
To put it nicely - follow the rules and you will not feel harrassed.
If you don't like the rules - start up your own forum and see how you go trying to run it.

man i was just spamming man.... i m not even a mod... i did not and do not have access to lock ur thread. i have as much access as u
and the reason taht i said **LOCK** is becoz i ve been here long enf and i know how this whole thing operates.... lockin it ll still allow members to search for it... info is still there..... and as we have so many threads created each day. its takin up alot of space... i m not tryin to have a go at u or anything.. but this is just how OH works...

Yes I agree with you here. However how hard you try people will always get ripped off. Group buys are at the individuals own risk and is not the responsibility of ozhonda, so there should not be an issue. I have not been to many forums that do not allow group buys and being that I particularly like this forum I would like to see some benifical changes.

you asked and answered your own question. And then hijacked your own thread with a questionable "hook up".
Tip for yourself - read the terms and conditions mate. There will be no group buys on our forum from past expeirence AND protecting YOU as the member.
There is no place for slandering OUR hard work since you are offended from our rules upon sign-up. At no time are you our "customer" - we enforce the rules and put in the hours modding so either follow our terms or dont:)

Mate that is not putting it nicely, and not really the best response to this topic at all. I am not trying to create a new forum and gather followers by getting members to leave, I am trying to create a discussion on how this site is managed. Hopefully to benifit the members.
I have some negative points, many positive but this thread is to improve on the bad so I have only mentioned the negative.
I particularly like this forum I would like to see some benifical changes.

ofcourse you do as that is your right. And it is my job to take negative feedback from many a member/newcomer. Also , to apply rules where we see fit.
Regardless, WHAT is it that you are upset about exactly ? Spell it out as you seem picky for such a simple thing. IE follow our terms or do not use our site.

Sorry kenshin - I really think you have gone the wrong way about providing "feedback". To say "who else hates this forum - because of the moderators" is not providing feedback. It is just sledging the moderators.
Providing constructive feedback is one thing - and is always welcome. Attacking the very people who operate this site, however, is hardly going to help you.

ROFLOL at that pic
its against the rules to do group buys, this is becasue ozhonda has traders that generate revenue for the forum
By looking at your post count ( yeah the post count thing again) you seem like you have only been here for a short period of time, IMO you have come here to generate a positive outcome for your group buy, and without the members here you cannot get your wheels.
You are now complaing that the mods are to harsh on you, even though you are breaking the rules they have set.
i dont see your arguement here
if your unhappy then you know what to do
other than starting an arguement And telling the mods they are terrible etc..isnt the best way to get what you want
Anyway best of luck with the groupbuy
This forum was doomed ever since win set it up.

i would have contributed far more in the past :( if it wasn't for the mods who advised me in what i was doing wrong but it seemed rude, unprofessional and rather threatening manner in their PM's. F#gg$t!
e .g posting things for sale as a newcomer status, they don't know:confused: how do they know they r noobs members go easy on em sheeez :( And give'n em warning PM's (to say stuff like this is your warning futher more and you will be banned) how uncomfortable is that:confused: Ok not every1 has the time to read pages and pages of terms & conditions (rules). Seriously do u find your self reading like say e.g Microsoft or any other pc software terms and conditions before installation....ummmm no :p Just click agree to all the BS anyways:!:
Some people may say Mods r like the NSW police force or wateva hahah zero tolerance policy or wateva. But mods try to be rather than warm and friendly than be king diks...other than that  good stuff Win  man

Hm,
I keep coming back. I like it here. Mods do all right but need to improve their private investigation techniques ;-) Öh, I am referring to one particular mod only actually.
No really, what's your gripe again?
EDIT 1: Oh I read on ... so you want to be a customer ... you think of this board as an enterprise. Get real. You really think this board is solely financed by traders paying a fee? How about you start up your own board and just see exactly who pays for what. Geez, as far as I am concerned you can just put up an informative site of your own and stop poisioning the atmosphere on OH.
What do you expect from this thread? Support from other members to join in your bitching? This complaint could have been brought to the site owner/admin using a one on one venue and you might have gotten a decent and informative answer but bringing it out into the open is absolutely outside common courtesy - starting a new thread? Give me a break.
I am sure you view this as a valid complaint - but it just isn't. I probably repeated what everyone else was saying and yes I know I should read the entire thread before I post a reply ... but hey, I am blond and I am female ... let me pull hair color and body parts on this one ;-)
EDIT 2: Well, I got to the end of the thread ... and, poster ahead of me ... I know I am not THAT blond so how about adjusting your spelling to reflect at least some knowledge of language so everyone may have an easier time skimming your text???!!

EDIT 3: btw ... Manly ... must be close to Seaport? Going to bed now. 3 am. I am going to be dead tired tomorrow - äh, today.

Definitely need to be more professional in my opinion. They spam as much as anyone but certainly in their elevated position they should set an example.
It wouldn't be easy to run and moderate a forum so credit where credit is due, but I think a review wouldn't go astray
As for the 6000 odd members on the site, how many are active members? ie, have posted in the last week?
And |N|, i don't think he was having a go at you, but this thread unequivocally upholds your description of yourself; "SPAM TEAM (SYD)"

I do agree that sometimes threads are closed a little too quickly but recently the mods have been a little bit more patient.
As everyone has said though kenshin, rules are set for a reason. Imagine this forum if it didnt have any rules. I agree with you two when it comes to installing products and just pressing I AGREE. I'll fess up and i do that too. Did it too when i first joined OH. But it only takes 5mins to read the T&C which i did at a later stage.

rules are rules, if you want to use the forum (which is a privilige) then abide by the rules.
i think the mods do a decent job... except lounge mods who are utterly useless imo. :)
the problem lies in bitchy, stupid members... who create immature and useless threads like 'i hate cyclists, commodores and i hate my neighbours'.

2. YO
3. ISNT IT convenient talking with thread titles?
4. LOL
5. bored...taking a dump
or something like that
thats y we have the SPAM THREAD! :)
neway as to mods on this forum.... ive been here for a while now... only time a mod ever sent me a PM was cos i double posted a question, and even then it was a friendly one up to a noob (who sent me that neawy...i cant remmeber? wyn? ben? it was early early times, b4 i got my fockign car)
and the rules do keep the forum in control and in the end make it a better forum to read. And personally i think the rules makes all talk more constructive. I mean go look at MCCR...sure they make great cruises.... but look at their forum...its not as vibrant as ozhonda
mods are necessary... and think about it they're getting a "proof reading" job in their spare time for no remuneration and no particular reward except to have their name a trippy green color

Theres a spam thread where you can post watever the fook u like but the other threads are mainly for "other topics" that doesnt involve Honda's with the exception of porn and selling items.

i closed it - as it is spam. It will be found on other forums too...in the vain hope of "getting votes" without the voter of actually knowing what it is .
We allow SPAM in the SPAM section. Nothing personal on anyone - but The lounge is more used as everyday discussion...not cheaply trying to reap benefits for friends/family/associates.

just my 2 cents worth.
I joined ozhonda to learn more about my car, get some great contacts, talk with like minded honda owners, have a laugh every now and then, and meet up for some cruizes. My initial reaction when I started was that it is hard to find your place in here as I wasn't a regular forum user and I made a few mistakes etc. BUT once you make those mistakes & get over the flaming (LOL), its a great place to be in. The Mods may be a little harsh sometimes, but with the amount of members i think they need to be. You need to remember that this place existed before you joined and that some topics have been talked about 101 times before you were even here. A little more thought into posts goes along way. Now, I can't resist the forums on OH, they are fun to be in and way better than some other boring sites i've been to. Rules are Rules, they are there for a purpose, and I'm pretty sure the rules here get bent & broken sometimes, but all for good reason. Anyway, keep up the good work guys, and OH can be an informative/interactive/Freindly & damn funny place to be in

everyone always likes to whinge about people who are above them or in charge, especially if they do something u dislike, whether u are right or wrong, you are gonna complain... i think its the way life goes.. at school u whinge about your teachers, at work u whinge about your boss, when your young with your mates u whinge about your parents...
so on these forums, people are gonna whinge about the mods.

Id prefer mods that are more harsh with the rules rather than too lax with the rules... it keeps the forum on the right direction in my opinion..maybe the lounge could be modded less...but more posts = more space = more server space = more money etc etc....but i havent had too many of my posts deleted removed..
theres a good chance that if the mods were too lax id probobly complain..
I think the title is misleading too..cause it sounds like you like the forum, just not some of the moderators..
who appoints mods ? wyn ? well maybe wyn can investigate some of the mods decisions? eg like auditing...maybe this would keep users happy or not thinking that our OH mods are over zealous ??
finally this forum is fun and meant to be for honda lovers..but it is getting big as well..it will start to look more like a shop than a forum eventually...just a comment
not sure if this is constructive to the discussion..

Hmm.. I recently found that giving an opinion or a 2 cents worth when a thread like this turns up can really cause quite a reaction. In another forum ages ago i gave an honest, constructive and positive comment in a disgruntled user started thread. The response I got from one of the administration was basically giving my opinion there was unwanted and that by doing so I would be considered a troublemaker.
This is the kind of behaviour i have never seen in ozhonda. Infact i have often found the mods here are more tolerant than most and would like to commend them for that. Rules are rules.. mods dont make em but they have to live by them just as we do. I havent ever found any disparity in my time here between us and the mods. In otherwords it has appeared to me that they do not have a different set of rules to the rest of us.
Not every set of rules are perfect.. I know that I've been spoken to here for accidently breaking the rules. In this case it was having a pic in my sig. Regardless of the rule its the same for everyone so I'm not disputing it. What i can say is that the mod who removed my pic was very understanding and polite when letting me know. He didnt have to be as i should have known by reading the terms and conditions myself, but he was and it was appreciated.
In short, there are much smaller communities out there that struggle to run as smooth as ozhonda does. Though not perfect, I really think that both sides can work together to keep making this place worthwhile to visit.
btw chi.. your contributions are always hillarious man!:D

Mate as far as I'm concerned the topic was in relation to the face lift as was the subject matter of the members post. Point me to the terms and conditions that stipulate this member was wrong in his post. I will continue to post examples on here as they happen. There are plenty of them.

It’s simple. He asks a technical question.
That gets answered
Then he asks a non technical question that belongs in the lounge.
It would have turned an informative thread into a spam thread.
He’s more than welcome to ask the same question in a new thread in the lounge.

it appears some are digging deep for examples to get at Us mods - but from MOST peoples perspective I think "We" do a decent job :)
Ive pissed off many-a-person but most get over it and most also are mature and realise its NOT a personal attack - " them the rules" :)

Mate I think there are more important things for you to worry about than if you like the mods....OK so we piss people off every now and again, but at the same time we get lots of peeps pissing us off with all their winging and what-not...It works both ways and we all (or most of us) get on pretty well at the end of the day.
We don't get paid for what we do and do out of love and enjoyment for the forum and the members as a whole. We all have busy lives ourselves (we do actually work, study, etc) and believe it or not we are human and make judgement errors.
Like anything in life, we can't make every single person happy....nor do we expect to.
It's your decision to stay or leave as it is with all of us.
