Stud pattern should be 4 by 100. Look for an offset for around the low 40's - it really all depends on how wide a rim you are going for.

stud pattern would be 4x100 ..

i'm assuming VTi's have 14inch stock, and you're only allowed 2inches above stock..

so to be legal, u should get 16inch max, but if you're feeling a little daring, by all means, go 17s :)

The width might be a bit of a problem. It also depends on if you want to lower the car as well.

In NSW, you may legally fit any rim & tyre combination as long as the rolling diameter of the said combination is no more than 15mm larger than the largest factory option and no less than 15mm under the smallest factory option.

http://miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html is the place to check if your legal or not
175/75R14 means 205/40R17's are legit!!

Yep thankyou this should really be cleared up as a lot of people misinterpret (spelling) the meaning of the law. You can increase WHEEL SIZE as much as you want, as long as the total diameter including tyres doesnt increase total rolling diameter (wheels and tyres) by 15mm. So you can go 19s if you can find them. It should also be said that you can only go an inch either way in wheel width. I had enough trouble finding 17s which were under the restricted width (which for your car is prolly 7.5 inches wide, correct me if wrong sum1). So you could go 18s if you want.

26mm rim width larger than the largest factory option.
We got 17"x7" on the Civic(205/40's and 18"x7" on my Pulsar(205/55R15 is same diameter as 215/35R18's!!)

That Miata site sure does help you calcualte what you can legally use so my work car now has 235/40R20's in place of the 215/70/R15's it once wore.

Mechanics Tip: Find a Tyre Guide from Falken/Bridgestone(I got a Firenza one), which has both your old tyre size and new tyre size rolling diameter. If the cops start hassling you, show them the guide for proof your legit!

i think 16" is perfrect for eg

i used to have 17x7's on my eg hatch.. fit just perfect..
however would scrap under a heavy load at the rear...
so if you're looking at getting 7.5" width.. depending on clearance..
u may have an issue.

Each to their own, but I like my 15" on my EG VTi.
They look great and give good ride/handling. But really depends on your priorities. If you want big, go big.

Just beware the bigger the rim, the less the sidewall on the tyre. Good for looks, not as good for tyre price or durability.

depends on what style are you going with the car

JDM: I'd go for 16 and low..nicee
Looks: 17/18 would be fine on eg

make sure you don't go wider than 7.5", as you will need to roll the guards
And also make sure you get the correct tyres profile

you should roll the guard up if you have bigger wheel size...i did a 19inch on a rx7 s7 had to roll the quarter guard in order for the fits... :)

16"/17" and lowered would be nice for eg. Definitely not 18". Kinda too big

17" is still pretty big

15" or 16"

will suit an EG just fine

recommended 7" width: 17x7 or 16x7
you might need to roll your guards with those 7.5" width
