i dont think you should both as u'd be just wasting your money for that engine. if you must, go with the really really basic mods such as air filter. for your car, take out the original paper filter and stick a reusable panel filter such as k&n or unifilter... i wouldnt bother with other mods :)

Gees people. Not everything costs hundreds of dollars. I agree that it's not worth spending lots of money on it. But there are some things you can do that might give it a bit more zip. If you don't mind getting your hands dirty.
Like someone so subtly said above, this has been asked before though. Have a look around.
Make sure the car is running well. Just normal things, good cond. sparks, air filter etc... Get some carb cleaner onto the carbs. Maybe get the carbs tuned.
Check out this thread http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13069&highlight=carbs
Some relatively easy mods you can do to the carbs for basically no expense (unless you stuff it up) ;)

You should check out ebay motors. Do a bit of research, and find out what US model motor is equivalent to yours. For example, the D16Y4 (ozzie model) is the same as the D16Y7 (US model), however the intake manifold for the D16Y4 is better (the same as used on the US D16Y8 SOHC VTEC).
Have a look, there are lots of things you can get, just don't forget to ask if the ship to Australia, and if so, how much for shipping (don't forget, this is all is $US).

Before you mess with the carbs try a lightened flywheel, some headers and a quick shift kit....that should give you some satisfaction.
I agree with KT.
Take off your existing intake, and wack on a K&N pod filter for easy breathing. Next some xforce or simular headers. Get a 2" mandrel bent catback exhaust and a strait through muffler.
Then make sure your running 98 octane fuel and advance your timing slightly by rotating your distibutor. Get your carb(s) tuned. And your car will be a zippy little beast. Also some new spark plugs, leads and a full service wouldn't go astray.
Furthur modifications include Clutch and flywheel, as well as a camshaft regrind. Getting your head milled and ported and polished. Maybe putting on a D16y1 or y8 head for SOHC vtec. then getting a cam and parts for that thing.
But if your set on your little D15b then there is plenty of options. Goto www.d-series.org theres plenty of yanks there who are running D15b non vtec motors which get 13s quarter mile times.
But first things first Intake, Headers and exhaust.
PM me or talk to me on msn if you need more help

i got a d15b4...
prolly not best to get a pod for a carbie car, u can get ramflo or mushroom filters.. they do a way betta job than a pod.. pods are made more for fuel injected carz,

My GF & I only recently pulled the D15B4 Dual Carb motor from her 1990 ED Civic.
Good little motor and when tuned right can make some decent power. A set of extractors & a 2" exhaust will let the motor breathe better but more importantly if U decide to upgrade the motor at a later date, these parts can carry over.
Replacing the Fuel filter, Air filter and spark plugs is good, remember to disconnect the battery for a few minutes to let the ECU clear any faults. Yes, there is any ECU hidden under the passenger side carpet, under a metal plate with 4x 10mm bolts holding it down.
We fitted the Fuel Injected Japanese Import D15B VTEC motor which makes 130Hp standard compared to the D15B4 100Hp. I know of an importer who can get you the D15B VTEC motor & P08 ECU for the engine swap for around $900 plus freight. Best part is this motor literally bolts in and keeps the police happy as it only qualifies as a head swap(cause it is still a D15B series motor!!)
If your interested, check out my GF's car at: www.cardomain.com/id/blackn14sss and click on the Civic pic.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask

Thanks man, your ride looks pretty good too(in your avatar)
$2000 including engine+freight, Goss EFI Hi pressure pump(GE034), timing belt, water pump, thermostat(basically all the stuff for the engine importers warranty), oils/filters/coolant, wiring, relays etc.
GF's Dad & I did the labour(2 days in and out) plus about 4 days of planning / rewiring involved.
Currently puts out 88Kw@the treads ;)
