a non vtec motor will get your minimal gains.even with all those mods...but im not sure you can go visit us at preludeaustralia.com.au and you can get everything answered for your 89 model prelude

Those questions are very vague, your best to be more specific.

1) 106kw at the fly, its called a 3rd gen, has a b20a6.
2) Not much unless you replace the header.
3) With the full exaust system, around 10kw gain.
4) Very very little, a custom intake may pull you a few kw up in the rev range when they start to run out of air.
5) Nup, but it will make the exaust note more bareable if you get a big exaust.
6) Depends what they drive, if your talking about a VN Commodore Executive, than you already do keep up with them, but if they own a NSX or a BMW Z4 than well.... you wont.

I advice you, to run a 2 1/4" system through, to a 3" tip, no bigger or you'll lose power from the exaust, without the header(s) system, the rest of the exaust will be in vain, so do this first, a custom intake is a $5 job, but ill wait for Richard to find this thread so he can further explain this. Stock 3rd gen puts out 75 fwkw on adverage, with a full intake and exaust you mite get it to mid 80's, depends on the dyno really.

If your mates have aussi v6 family sedans, i would try getting proper suspension, strut and sway bars, and upgraded break pads, than watch them try and catch you through any road that isnt a highway.

Enjoy the car, as said they will perform admirably for their age, one site for insperation if you want everything answered is www.racinghonda.com, its not a forum, but read through the articles, that will give you a basis to start.

Im sure we have already stressed this point on Prelude Australia, but we will again - handling, handling, handling. Its the area where the 3rd gen has the most potential, so why not focus more on that? Trust me, when you are taking corners at 70+ km/h with ease, you wont give a damn about how quick your car is in a straight line.

P.S. No one is invincible in a car, so hone your skills and be confident (not cocky) in your ability to drive before pushing your limits.
