As long as the engineers certifies it, it will be legal. :)

It's legal if you can get an engineering cert... Even then, companies might not want to insure you. A bunch of peeps here have turbo ds - paulosportz, weq... good luck with both of ur projects!

Costs - i have spoken to the "pornboy" about costing a turbo - he builds em in melb, which funniily enough is also where i live.

To run the turbo set up you are after ie a t28 from an s15 with greddy e-manage - you would realistically be looking at 5k. This does not engineering the turbo for insurance purposes.

to run a more "complete" ems then add another 2k to that figure which should incl dyno time.

i am also insured with just car but the epa legality of it is a bit tricky with your engine. The EPA papers they have are done on a b series engine so you will have to give them a call to see if they have done the EPA test on a d series.

cheers

good luck finding a bb t28. they go for about 700-900 depending on the condition. if you really interested i can make you a custom turbo kit for about 5.5k with a high flowed bb t28 and includes the hondata. PM me for details

i mean if a turbo kit was on the y1 would the figure be the same as the y8??? because atm its not easy to find a vti hatch so i was thinking a gli, with a d16y8 and turbo that?

From what I've read here http://www.d-series.org/forums/index.php?

D16Y8 are weaker than D16Y1 for some reason
