that extra lead , leads to the external ignition coil unit. Its a MSD item.
Hondas are prone to wear in the distributor ( with an internal coil) so this aftermarket item is more reliable apparently.

imo no.

All it does , is relocate the stock ignition coil module. The OEM unit is fine IMO and lasts a good 10 years before replacing !
