Hi I'm a newbie to this forum and to Integras as well. Been back thru about 30 or 40 pages of posts and can't find a similair question to mine. Here goes, father in law gave me his old 88 Teg. Total poobox. Is there a common engine swap for these older cars,ie later model engine, better performance etc etc.Don't have the time or the resources to do a retrofit,so I was thinking one of these low KM import engines.Any suggestions? Thanks

sell it :)
Edit: Welcome to ozhonda, im sure ull find alot of questions can b answered here ;)
there is no real common swap.. basically most people dont bother modding them.
I think the yanks like to put the jap spec ZC d16 engine in it. You would have the AUDM d16a3 engine.
But yeah the ZC doesnt have much more power, just really the typical higher level of performance for the jap market.
Some people put b16's in the gen1 tegs.. but i hear u lose your power steering. I guess technically a b18 could even go in it then.
But in the end a conversion will cost at least 4k for a cheap cheap job.. which is prob worth more then the car.
Seeming though it is ur first car i would recommend u just learn the finer aspects of driving and save for something better. It should be good on fuel and just change the oil every so often with some FEO honda stuff and should be ok for a while.
in the end the gen1's are a bad base car, just save for an LS or something.. or an s13 like i did :p (hate me!)

this is just too much trouble unless you don't need to labor fee, in your case engine swap labor fee will be much more expensive than your engine. In my opinion, you should try to sell it and buy a second hand LS or ....then modify it
