are you talking about the plastic door strips?

if you are, then i'd suggest getting it done properly, there are holes, and the doors skins seem to warp really easily.

I have a white '94 Gsi and have always wondered if u could get white strips instead of the black? Is it just a matter of taking them off and painting them, or can u buy them?

I got mine painted, I think if you buy them they come without colour. Be careful when taking them off because they warp!

I painted mine about 6 months ago.. Still looks great now and makes a huge difference to the look of your car. From my opinion, with a white Teg it's a must!

did u use a special type of paint on the plastic? I could see some paints cracking in the weather and not being good on plastic.

You need the correct paint. (bought mine custom made at detailing shop) A few pressure packs of frost white (gsi) and alot of primer. May also want some light sand paper.. I'm sure my job isnt as perfect as the shop and may not last as long but the price is definitely worth it.

Yeah that sounds the way to go. Put on a coat, sand it back, then repeat a few times. Do you have any pictures of the finished product? And was it difficult to get the side strips off the car (ie: pushing them through the other side of the door ), or did they just pop out nicley?

I'm pretty sure you should be able to use any automotive paint, as long as you use plastic primer on it beforehand.

Check in the other parts of the forum. It is fairly easy to do - although to get the best job you probably should take it to a professional panel beater/spray painter.

people like to take it off for the 'cleaner' look

the dc2r comes stock without the bumper strips, looks a lot better than the vtir

if youre planning to take them off, get the holes welded up professionally, filled in, smoothed over, and painted. i wouldnt recommend doing it at home tho =)
