ozhonda raffle

hey guys,

what do you reckon we have a raffle for and on ozhonda (or a charity, or both).
Maybe like 5 dollar one ticket 10 dollars for 3,

and we get adrian and perhaps other traders to semi-donate to us (ie. close to cost proce, proceeds pay for the rest)
for example we could have a toda header for first prize, vision cat back second, set of hids for third.


and have a few prizes, and then we draw a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place at designated cruises..


Ie. Melbournce draws first place at a cruise, sydney 2nd place, adelaide 3rd.
(or something along those lines)

i think it would be a nice idea, it would help raise money for this site (or a charity) and also increase ozhonda moral, and ozhonda bonding =D

hmm not a bad idea, but i doubt the traders will be interested.first of all we all dont have the same model car, so they would have to wait till someone wins before being able to supply (most likely the will have to order it)


and yeh it would be unfair if only melbourne peeps got first place haha (i want the toda headers!! lol)

but yeh maybe with some duscussion something can be worked out

i don't think enough people wil buy raffle tickets in order to support the idea.

with over 6000 members i'm sure at least 200 would buy at least one ticket.

and if 60% are tight arses i'm sure they would be more willing to spend 5 bux on teh change to win a 1500 header, then spending 1500 =P

Sounds like a good idea and I think donating to charity is an awesome idea!

We just have to work out the numbers like how many raffle tickets do we have to try and sell?

yea i think charity would be a nicer idea. (need to think of one which is semi related to what ozhonda stands for)
If we do get it happening would be nice to have a little bit of media exposure even if in a local newspaper, to show how "car hoons" behave in reality =P

Sounds like a good idea. Don't know what you mean by drawing 1st prize in melb, 2nd prize in syd. Can't we just get win or someone to draw the raffle under 'controlled' circumstances then post the winner on OH. Then the prize can be posted to the corresponding user.

bah register... if its an in-house (OZHonda) raffle to members you shouldnt have to register a thing.

I think the registration is those general public raffles you see in the shopping malls to stop scammers.

but a memberbase raffle should be fine... like school raffles and social club raffles... then you can just donate the earnings to the charity of choice.

i think its just as good for the winner to be posted on here as there are still alot of members that arent in melb/syd..

but then again, we could have a big cruise, where syd members drive south and melb members drive north and meet in the center.. that would be like a 2hr drive yeah?? thats for syd and melb members

would have heaps of members and be able to have a big BBQ, with this raffle drawn.. products can be given to the person (no need for postage etc) and we could get big group photos of cars/members etc. And if it was gonna have small media coverage that would be a good opportunity as members from both states are in the one place.

you could also arrange it over x-mas holidays etc.. i dont know, just some ideas...

doing a raffle would need some hefty planning, and also keep an eye out for the accusations, for instance if a mod won twice in a row people would be asking questions on how legit it is.

All I am saying is there are legal requirements for raffles and fundraisers to be considered. If you are volunteering to do the research on this - fine by me :wave:

I belive we can organise something via the rotary club where we keep a certain percentage of the profits (which we can donate to charity). THe HCCNSW had / have a similar thing so I can enquire further with them if necessary!

If it is done...it will be done in such a way that any Ozhonda member in Australia can win :)

as long as it's not for profit, government has no interest in it... cuz there's no taxation issues.

it can be organised so that anyone in aus could win... ie we all purchase tickets (if we want to) and the matching stubs are collated and carried by an individual (a mod?) who cannot themself enter the draw. then, as suggested, it could be drawn in major centres (including perth!) involving a day out/cruise for OHers... the thing to work out is where to donate the money??? and what sorta prizes?
