Friends,

I am planing to build a Honda for drag racing purposes, and it should be Normally Aspirated. There are some option out there for the basic engine use,and this confuse me as well...anyone want to share the idea of what base engine should I take,
1. B series ...1,6 or 1.8
2. K Engine series, which one
3. D series engine

what is the max Hp that I can expect..?

Thanks

what’s your budget, what’s your goal ?

The aim is to get 12 second car with the use of old civic wonder body, should be approx 800kg weight.

And hopefully no need to use NOS, the use of 4 barel weber is also an option

thanks

I doubt it would be a D series, but its solely dependant on how much you have in mind for budget. Id say K20A if u had the cash.

just check out jdmyard's civic that runs a K20a and goes 12.9
and with slicks, and quads it goes 12.3

i think.. i think.. your chassis is lighter than jdmyard's civic, correct me if i wrong.
so you'll easily have the potential to got 12s.

btw are you going all out on hp? or just leaving the engine internals stock with bolt ons?

also k20a [jap spec]

I guess the body will be lighter, because it will not be for the street use, but actually I also have Jazz VTEC 1.5L that I bought 1.5 months a go, and I keep looking on it, imagining that the L15A engine will also potential,...but I have no idea on it.

What I know is, I have to wait till our colleague from USA start modifying it, then the performance parts will be easy to find.

i think the L15A could do maybe 14ss in a 800kg chassis ..maybe?

but considering that it can do 16s in a jazz i can't see why not

Actually, If I can choose, I prefer to modify my Jazz Vtec, because its kind of good feeling to be one of the kind who do the drag race with this car, but so far the performance parts is still very limited.

In my other thread I askes if there are some particular parts of this engine that might similar to the other Honda's like piston, crankshaft or rods, but so far no answer yet.

I know somebody from Philippines is trying to produce the performance camshaft through the same manaufacturer of the famous japanesse brand, but I guess it should be for next 6 months.

How about turbos, anybody can share the idea..
