Hey i've jus quickly installed this pod-filter, it's going to be only temporary for like a month or so untill I save a up for a better setup. Do you guys think this is good for now?
And also i'ma get thicker leads + betta sparks, i was wondering if theres anything else i can do for performance wise? btw my budget is pretty tight at d moment, cuz getting new springs, rims n tyres....

why spend money on thick leads?
do your leads need repacing?
if you only got the standrd ignition system you dotn need bigger leads

remove your air box, go 2 a aliuminium (sp) joint and buy some piping too fit and extend it further down.

This setup would be better seen with some sort of shield or heat pading between the stock header and the filter it self.

if you do opt for a better setup make sure you get some sort of aluminium box made up, with some sort of ducting for cold air coming from the front(behind front bar).

Not only do you enclose the filter from hot engine bay air but you also contain cold air coming from outside within the box.

another advantage is that the filter will also be hiden from direct view. ;)

The ARC filter box is a great example of this.

Alex.

No probs man ;)

better off doing it right than your engine breathing in hot air and wasting fuel, which is something you don't wanna do right now with the current fuel prices! :(

I think you can leave that on. I just did a tight ass intake setup on my friends DC2 VTiR. Basically what you have done so far. I took the stock air box completely out, including the bottom part, and then bought an alumnium sheet from Bunnings to make a heat shield (which you can re-use when you decide to upgrade your intake later on), take off front bumper, take intake resonator out and proceed to kick the living crap out of it, then chuck that in the bin :p
Buy yourself a set of tree breathing hoses from Bunnings ($5), and use that to direct cold air from the front of the car and point it to the pod.
Bend the aluminium sheet so that the tree breathing hoses are actually inside the heat shield area as well.

I think this is what vtml is talking about, not a bad idea. Here a little visual aid

hmm, sorry to hijack the tread, but i think a proper CAI will be a much better option. infact i've got a brand new CAI sitting in my garage, package came the mornin' after i crashed my car. :(

That first pic...Did you oil that filter? Cause it doesn't look like it, Should be more red like the one in the White DC2 photo.

a good short ram system will perform just as good as a cold intake system

maybe not on a dyno, whilst air isnt being pushed through the engine bay

if you do a search on team-integra there is a lot of examples of this comparing the two see below

http://www.team-integra.net/forum/display_topic_threads.asp?ForumID=7&TopicID=35032&SearchPagePosition=1&search=%22intake%22&searchMode=allwords&searchIn=Topic&forum=0&searchSort=dateDESC&ReturnPage=Search

really the intake will make a very minor improvement so you have to add up what you wanna spend the money on, maybe just dropping a KN in the standard setup etc..

what i think is its a crap setup, ur beter off with ur original air filter box setup than that. trust me u dont wana be collecting hot air from ur engine that reduces ur car performance. extend ur piping and make a cold air intake that actually feeds of cold air.

ok to answer the question you asked "yes" it's good enough (to stay there for looks(appearance...)), "no" it's not good enough to improve preformance...

and just a quick question is that the standard IM for a GSi? it looks different to even the vti-R? :)

i would go DC2 K&N in the stock box den cut the bottom of box for direct cold air pipe to front of car

Any chances in wanting to sell it?? ;)

another cheapie option
just get a 45 degree PVC bend pipe and sit the pod in the stock airbox :D
