hey all, i bought this mod from ebay, stuck it on my h22a and it worked. more power, better fuel economy.

go figure.

all it is is a resistor thet u plug into the IAT sensor.

I took it off after a week and i noticed a drop in performance so i put it on 5 dys later and the car went better again!

it just burns more fuel at any rate of air intake or temperature.

I have heard many bad things about this. But let me know if your car still runs well after few months.

i heard that too but I thought id try it out anyways. What are the many bad things you have heard? Is my car going to detonate or something? Even if it was, ive got a knock sensor to make sure it doesnt.
But I'd like to know what the chances are of engine failure are with this mod.

the thing is, my car runs really rich, if you give it full throttle it blows black smoke like a turbo car ( it did this as soon as i swapped in the jdm h22a and ecu )

With this resistor it only does it a little bit at WOT and it makes a noticable decrease in fuel consumption.

Whats interesting is that the IAT sensor on a accord/prelude is in the plenum but the IAT on a civic is in the air intake but you can buy the same mod for both cars ( this mod is universal for any car with an IAT sensor ) ive got CAI anyways, so the air the engine is cooler than stock air box or SRI.

hm

I'd like to see where this gose :p

So coze I a have a CAI but my stock ECU cant read this the mod dose?

you bought it for the manual that tells you about double clutching didnt you? :P

just imanage how well the car would go with a piggyback ecu or standalone! tune it.

yeah but $15 as apposed $450 N/A or $750 Boost Hondata :p

So its works but dose it kill ya car in the process?

Do you think so? Considering a resistor will cost you like $20c at any electronics store.

This kind of modification will not give you any performance gain whatsoever.

maybe its a special resistor :)

i tried this b4... took it off a couple of days later... i just feel the car sort of running wierd... like not smooth... i went to check at dicksmith to check the resistor.. u can get it for like 50 cents or $1.... the same color resistor... never put it on since then...

You mite be a special case with your lude - but in general, do not ever use anything remotely similar to that on your engine.

It will likely detonate.

nock sensors are known to be crappy - its often too late by the time they register.

loll i think this guy got ripped off and he's just trying to get someone else to fall for it too so he doesnt feel so stupid...

Umm if you're blowing black smoke, why don't you get a S-AFC or the like and a tune (an older gen non-blue screen S-AFC is only around $100, the tune is more though)? Or even an ECU reset just temporarily to see if that helps and check your air flow meters or whatever? If you're going to do something get it done properly... that said, a full ECU is probably a better option in the long run.

A type R sticker nets you 5kw more power @wheels (power@wheels)

I've got a VAFC - would that work in conjunction with this 'resistor' or would the resistor do jack sh*t (assuming it does something to begin with) ?

ProECU

there is no assumption my friend...

Fooling the ECU into thinking the intake charge is colder and hence denser will cause the ECU to react with extra fuel to compensate for an expected lean condition.

Short term : Doing this at cruise conditions will kill fuel economy (rich), and at $130/lt, thats an expensive resource these days.

Long Term: The long term O2 correction will bring these effects back into line, which will correct the O2 in closed loop back to 14.7 a/f

Spending $50 for the resistor to end up where you started is a waste of money in my book.

me dont give a **** what u allthink, screw you all! muahahaha! :)

after i put it on and put some octane boost in my car i raced my mate ( standing start) in his import mitsu galant ZR4 4WD FMIC turbo and i kicked his arse until 160kph when he started to get in front of me. He has run his down the quarter and it does a 14.32.

Have you asked yourself if the octane boost has anything to do with it ?

fuken hell, why are all guys bagging me out? no one has given me a real reason to why it will be bad, its just all hear say.

No Reason? Did you not read post 24. I gave you plenty reason.

As much as we'd like to, I dont think anyone is bagging you personally.
we're simply trying to help you save a dollar and help out a fellow member.

Heck, do what you wish, your car, your money, your issue when something goes bad.

i did a trip to sydney with the resistor on the car and got 570km to the tank....this was 470km open cruising at 120kph and 100km of hard city driving.......this was with no octane boost in the car and the performance was alot better than with no octane or resistor.

I then took the resistor off the car and drove back home and did the same type of driving conditions...470km cruising and 100km of hard driving and i got 570km to the tank. The performance was some waht dull....enough to make me think " damn that thing really worked" so i put it back on again and the car goes really well again.

From my testing the car goes alot better but has same fuel consumption. When u put octane boost in it it goes even better still!

The resisitor only cost me $12 delivered.
