definately no higher than 6000k or else it is too dangerous in the rain, due to lack of visibility.

6000k is not practical at all it just gives your car a ricey look, factory HIDs will not be 6000k. You have a 94 KA7 legend? so ur headlight housing is not built for HID so it will have glare, blinding oncoming traffic i think its better if u do a retrofit for ur headlights or stick with oem bulbs but if u really want hid then get the 4300k one as i have a 2000 KA9 legend and we both have reflector headlights so we need all the light output we can get, stick with 4300k.

very interesting underc35a.
if we need all the light out put we can get (legends) why are you saying go with 4300k? 7000k is alot brighter.

im going too go with the 7k and see how i go, can u just change the bulbs too get a lower k rating?. if so are they expencive? ive herd about $100 each

7K is brighter.. but does not provide the distance needed. pull out your friggin manual.. and read which bulbs/wattage your lights are rated for. you cant just change bulbs. you will need a HID kit if oyu dont have one

legal is 4300k. anyhting higher is defect(from memory). anyhting higher than 4300k will just get whiter-> blue.. and will not gain the distance

phillips diamond vision at 5000k are RRP at 145-155. this inlcudes both bulbs and parkers. goodluck hunting

Hey

I've got 6000k on my car which is white white with tinge of blue. If I could change it I'd go with 7000k just for the more blueish look.

4300 actually produces the most light as I drove next to a Euro. It has more light plus it had a more yellowish look instead of blueish like the 6000k.

I used all 3 before, from experience

5000k = White/Yellow = good visibility and still keep visibility in the rain.
6000k = White = provides white light and good distance, especially in very dark places :D
8000k = White/Blue = gives a white/blue light, the blue light will reflect all road signs or anything that is refective.

if u want a a nice lights that stand out from a distance, then get 8000k, otherwise i think if u want to get the most distance out of it then go for 6000k. i jus ordered a set of 8000k... cant wait!

7000k is not brighter, people only think it is brighter because our human eyes react more towards the blue spectrum of light, 4300k lights up the road farrrr better than 7000k bulbs, and guys do not think that sometime u see a flicker of blue on the roads is a million k hid bulb, its most likely a projector light housing. Remember in high school when we used overhead projectors? and sometimes there is a blue or some other weird colour outter edge? that is wat is happening. When that car with the projector light goes over a bump the blue part hits our eyes and we immediately react to it, but once you get close you realise that it is actually a 4300k bulb. :p

Just so you all know, the Kelvin (K) rating of bulbs is only a rating of the colour of the light they emit expressed as a temperature rating (based on the colour of light emitted by a theoretical "Black-Body" as it is heated to various temperatures). It has nothing to do with brightness or how far ahead of you the light will go. Lumens is a measure of brightness and distance is determined by a number of factors especially the basic design of your headlight reflectors.

Sunlight at noon is around 5000 - 5500 Kelvin. I would go no higher than this because it becomes an un-natural light past this point that will strain your eyes if you are driving for long periods of time at night.

this topic has been covered so many times before and captiva blue is right.

do a search if you are a non-believer.

my friend has 10000k, now that was crazy. It was like a perfect blue, stood out alot (looked awesome!!!!), however, when we drove you couldn't see anything really (anything over 6000k is more of a showcar thing). I've got 8500k on cd5 and I usually avoid driving in wet weather cause it doesn't light up much.
