i dunno why i said renovate...it sounded good at the time :O

anywahy, my LS 1990 da9 integra has done 288k on the clock, and im thinking about a few options.

i dont really kno what would be the best thing to do, i HAVE searched, so please dont say it, i need help and ive looked over alot of forums but im still unsure.

i can either just rebuild my current engine, or rebuild it, and put a diff head on it. or get a new engine all together, but also i am unsure of price, if anyone can help me, it would be4 greatly appreciated :), i was htinking about a b16a or b18a, but i dont kno how much they are n stuff.

Thanks

Do you mean B18c? I would go a new engine. Get a b18C...doesn't have to be the type R motor, can just be the normal vtir motor

I'd go a later model Type R motor... Cheap as from an importer.

u talking k20a?? or just a later b18c??...

depends on your budget dude...if you only got 1-2k to play with engine swaping maybe out of the question, then depends what you want aswell...super drag car??..track car?? or just a little bit faster then before that is drivable everyday...

how much u got?
what you want?...

then u can work it out from there

what price are you talking about when u say cheap as?
b16a is pretty comon and availeble ppl are charging bout 5 to 6gs for a conversion.
8 for b18c1 and a lot more for R motors.
it be cheaper to rebuild his and go higher comp pistons cams intake exhaust and get power that way or LS/VTEC it.

Or you could go the other way with lower comp pistons and run a turbs setup...

turbo will cost you bout same as goin for a b16a
you will be goin to a motor which has a lot less torque aswell

get a b20 out of a crv and put a b16a vtec head on it, change a few internals and ull have a weapon!!!

it depends how much trouble u would wqant to go through, if you want to be simple, got the the b16/b18/h22 stuff, if u want to be fancy and dont mind dramas and delay, go messing around with head/block swaps, crvtec (b20) is nice but i personally rekon it's too much of a hassle.

if i were you id just go for a straight swap.

do what i'm doing, screw the vtec, rebuild ur B18A with low comp pistons and some headwork, cams etc and turbo the teggy. If you do some dealing and some saving you can get away with it pretty cheaply. Look on ebay for alot of ur stuff and piece it together (crower turbo cams for B18A & springs & Retainers for under $1000 bucks, Arias forged pistons & Egal H beam rods for around $1000, Turbo second hand? $300, manifold $200 etc etc etc). It will be alot cheaper cause you already have the engine in ur car and don't have to buy a new one, plus you will have alot more power on tap.

PS, would be better if you did pick up a B16A & Turbo it, last time i checked you can get a B16A for $800 bucks from the wreckers, or a B18A for around $600, but that would be a troublesome path as a high reving high comp engine like the B16A has to be tuned perfectly for it to work.

B18B from 96 DC2 GSi in the sucker (like I did)

then Turbo it, its a good base for turbo and LSVtecs I've heard don't rev as much, don't last long too!

If you could get in contact with GSI_PSI he had a DC2 GSi with a B18B Turbo, car looked sweet as a sleeper and the kit was from AVO, he ran like a 13.something as far as I can remember? correct me if I'm wrong!

B18B has better Torque Compared to the B18C Vtec Series engine, as far as I remmeber the B18B has = 1834cc oppossed to B18C Vtec = 1797cc.

You can realy tell the difference when in a race of the line, B18B pulls out first (torque) and gets in front of a B18C powered car, but once Vtec kicks in the B18C will drop the B18B, I this so from the time me and my mate ran each other at the drags (off street) same results on all runs.

But to me it seems more logical doing a B18B turbo, coz you can have the low down torque for the Turbo to Spool up much faster, as to the B18C you would need an increased number of revs to get the Turbo Spooling up, and as a fac Vtec engines require more revs than their non Vtec counterparts, this is how Vtec engines make their sweet power!

Hope that helps you out!

for the money you wanna spend i suggest you just try engine swap to a B16a, or if you really want a turbo, B18B and get a bolt on turbo kit but it will cost you alot more then 3k owning a B18B Turbo myself, if you got any questions, ask and ill be happy to help.

well guess what happened lol, my engine which had 288000 on the clock, it blew up, i didnt have money at the time so i rebuilt it using stock parts again from a friend (it was kinda cheaper) and so yeh

i brought a set of crower cams and a greddy ECU, i brought headers but the person who sold them to me lied to me and said they would fit and they didnt, so thats 400 down the drain! anyway, im gonna buy new headers, fuel pressure regulator and maybe fuel pump, and after i get my car re=painted all the stuffs going in :)

Ill let you all kno the details :)
