I am thinking to get a pair of Splits for my civic.
Budget around $300.
Anyone can recommend me anything? I prefer clear sound instead of too much bass, as i already have a sub at the back.
I heard people saying that Jaycar 6.5 is not bad. But i never listen to it before.
How about Pionneer or JL , are they any good ?
Thanks a lots!

pioneer make good splits.. look at brands like MB QUART or even the FUSION splits are really impressive!!

i run soundstream (van gough series) they are the bomb.. my opinion is that as long as you have a great sounding h-u and great amp to suit..even crappy speakers can sound real good!

For that budget, consider:

Jaycar Kevlar
Boston FS60's
Hertz HSK165
Morel Pulse 6
JL Audio VR-650 Csi
Alpine Type S/R
Focal Access 165v1
Phoenix Gold Octane ZR-6.5 comp

Many there to look at. However, please note that installation is literally infinitely times more important than the component speakers you purchase.
Another factor is what's powering the speakers and what music you listen to.
Price is definately not an indication of quality.
Good luck!

Thanks for all your replies my friends
I am running the Split by a Jaycar Response 4X100 and a JVC KD-LH915.

Thinking of getting JL 6.5, it's about 340 in JB. But dunno what series is it.

I am interested in the MB OUART too since you guys suggested. Where can I buy the MB OUART stuffs ? I am in Melbourne. Wanna have a listen to it.

Kenwood is on par with alot of the Sony stuff. Better than OEM (paper cups) but not in the same league as any of the others previously mentioned specialists. These other companies are dedicated to speaker/audio manufactuering not just making consumer electronics (toasters, fry pans, irons, oh and speakers). With the budget given you can get into the good entry level stuff from the real audio brands.

Access. 165A are splits, 165CA are coaxial so the 165A.

'be' series you need to add another zero to the price and then some. They come in a really nice box though.

I just bought Boston Accoustics SL 60. Is it any good? I'm not too familiar with audio components, but my friend said that it is one of the best gear for the price under $500. And for the information to the thread starter, I bought it for $430 at sale price, RRP is around $550 (i think).

I'm running JL VR600CSi 6" splits off a jaycar amp. Very impressive.. alot better than my old pioneer splits :)

I got them for $290 from JB Hi-Fi so it's right in your budget range

indeed they do! you running yours off a external amp or headunit? I ran them off my HU initially then amped them when I had cash what a big difference!

I agree with the JL VRs... i had the 6" VR 2 way in my rear of my delsol and the TR splits at the front and it sounded great (for my standards) running from the headunit..

atleast 2 of my mates have the VR 6" splits (600Csi) in their car running from amps (cadence and alpine respectively) and they sound tops! quality sound from quality speakers

I am running them by the Kicker KX200.1. Sounds all rite. Didn't run from the HU before, so i didn't know the difference hehehe.
