i've been seeing posts on this forum saying that dc5 with mods make up to 130 to 150kw at the wheel on the forum here.
i am curious to know how fast is that down thw qauter mile with this sort of power. Comparing to dc2r with similar mods, i know the dc2r won't be make as mch power, which is faster?

my experience - dc2r + 122kw@wheels = 13.94 1/4mile

This is true that the dc5 can make this power as mine is currently making 138kw atw. I am unsure what it will do down the quater as honestly i havent tried it yet. I know of another dc5 here in qld that has similar mods and has done high 13s down the strip. i hope this helps :)

Hi Max

May I ask what mods you have done? I'm planning to race the 1/4 mile next week with just a cat-back on mine and I'm hoping to get into 14 but I doubt it. It'll be my first time and with the 17s I've got on I hope 15.5 is achievable.

Here some average feed back from my clients who’s dc5’s iv tuned across Australia who have gone racing, the times are variable due to driver error, and suspension / tire setup.

Stock DC5r around 15.5

DC5r with a nice free flowing intake, and nice exhaust system plus Hondata K100 14.5 – 14.1

DC5r with a nice free flowing intake, and nice exhaust system, Toda Headers plus Hondata K100 13.8 – 13.5

1. Stock DC5r around 15.5

2. DC5r with a nice free flowing intake, and nice exhaust system plus Hondata K100 14.5 – 14.1

3. DC5r with a nice free flowing intake, and nice exhaust system, Toda Headers plus Hondata K100 13.8 – 13.5

What's the difference (in terms of 'free flowing intake' and 'nice exhaust') between 1 & 2 ?

Umm I think in (3.) his just adding the Toda headers?

K20 engines hate back pressure, period.
3” exhaust system flows more than a 2.5” exhaust system and makes more power
2.5” exhaust system flows more than a 2.25” exhaust system and makes more power

See the trend, the larger the exhaust / thus more free flowing the more power.

As for intakes, cold air is good, and one of the best styles would be the injen intake its simple cheap flows very nicely and makes maximum power, although modifying the stock intake is almost as good as most bling bling after marker boxes. And some bling bling air box’s are no better than a stock unmodified air box…

Again all of this I’m sure is covered in bang for ya buck DC5

Last time we went to heathcote a bone stock DC5R did 14.8 and he was miss shifting too! I beleive a stock dc5r can get 14.6 - .7

hmm...
doing 14.6 for stock DC5R is very good...
but honestly...i've only seen mid 15s for stock DC5R

they hardly ever get low 15s

low 15 is achieveable for stock dc5r , not 14's, I just can't believe it

Actually I just remembered he had a BC3 cat back... but that alone will not cut it down from 15.5 to 14.8...

My Mates Stock DC5R done a 14.7 down the 1/4 At WSID. I haven't raced mine but im sure i could even beat his time as I am a Better driver lol. I don't know how ppl could get a 15 with a DC5R, that to me is embaressing to us Type R owners! It's either a 14second bracket or take the Type R badge off!

what are you guys on about?!?
a stock DC2R does mid 14s does it not?
low 14s if he/she is a good driver

a DC5R is slower in a straight line than the DC2R...
so at best, it may do high 14s or low 15s...

for the "AVERAGE" driver, why is it not possible to be doing 15.5s in a stock DC5R?
i've seen many

depends on the 1/4 mile location, uphill and downhill affect the time slip as well :)

sorry to be a little off topic but im guessing the DC5R's weigh a decent amount. Some of the K swapped EG's have killer times even with only light mods.

So i wonder if u stripped a DC5R of its interior, what it would run with the mods mentioned by BLKCRX? Im not sure but I think it would make a considerable difference...

What kind of engine mounts? Im sure it helped with the axel tramp?

davidd

energy suspension moun inserts....

Axle tramp was next to nil, has the same affect as a torque dampener, however as soon as I supercharged the engine it started to flex on the engine mounts again.

I still have no axle tramp through :)
