Sato with a new team in '06?
BAR Honda driver Takuma Sato said Tuesday he has received an offer from a team making a bid to join Formula One, giving him the chance to race next season.

"The new team is yet to be decided, but I have received an offer from it," the Japanese driver said. "There are various options for the next season. I will not give up on competing in F1."

He was speaking at a press conference with Honda, which announced it will take full control of BAR Honda, for which Sato raced for two full seasons.

The team dropped the 28-year-old Japanese from the lineup for the next season.

Honda officials also said they were prepared to offer engines to a new team that might join the Formula One world, without specifying details.

Sato - like BAR - has failed to shine this season after a promising debut year with the team in 2003 and his options for a place on the grid are limited with virtually all the top team drives already taken.

BAR and Honda have been trying hard to help Sato secure a drive. Jordan chief Colin Kolles has previously said the team could make a bid to bring in Sato as a driver for next season.

Jordan, which will be re-branded as Midland next year, runs with Toyota engines but Kolles confirmed the Japanese company has given his team clearance to bid for Sato's services if they see him as their best option.

btw contracting baricello is decided by BAR not by Honda, it would be a different scenario if Honda had more than 50% share/ownership at BAR at the beginning of 2005 season.

i think wot they are referring to is.. how he takes care of the car as a whole... hes not as hard on the car as some others.....which lets him conserves the engine.. brakes...tyres a bit more...

Sato's going to be driving a few A1GP races and it looks like Jordan (aka Midland Toyota) will pick him up. HAHA, I can see it now... egg on the face with Webber and Williams beating $55M Button and then Sato beating him in a Toyota, main rival to Honda.
But really, I think Sato would be better to give up on F1 for a while. Have some fun in A1GP, maybe some Japanese GT events, dunno. Nothing seems to work for him in F1.

Sato is an aggressive driver?
I think your opinion is getting in the way of your overall judgement.
He only seems aggressive because of stupid mistakes he makes.
Jenson runs all over Sato (God thats painful to say) he is a better driver overall, he doesn't have the same performance rate as Jenson.

Just look at how Ralf and Jarno get compared to each other, or Juan and Kimi hell Webber and Heinfeld.
Its about outdoing your teammate and Sato hasn't done it.
Even if Honda did own it at the start of 2005, I'm sure them picking up Rubens (Been with a mutli World Championship team since 2000 I think) would of been on the cards.

Imagine the amount of information/feedback/advice he could give them about improving the car etc. The man has learnt from the best Schumacher, Todt and Brawn.

There is another Japanese driver that will be driving on Friday practice at Suzuka, I can't remember what thread I put it in, but its there.

I personally think, once Sato goes to A1, gets beaten by Piquet Jnr, Power etc he might not have get back into F1.
Even going to Midland or Red Bull Jnr could damage his career.
I'd have to say to him, take the test drivers roll.

Sato is Joining McLarean NEXT YEAR! Jaun has been dropped and is going to join the new RedBull rookie team along with Shumi, Kimi is heading to Williams along with Alonso. Ron Dennis is also selling his share of McLaren to a Box factory from Nigeria, The box factory has high hopes F1 will introduce them to the world and boost their sales form 50 to 100 boxers per year. While all this is happening the new padock rumor is Bernie is in talks with Snoop Dogg about the sale of the Formula One brand name, which in 2008 could possible called Formula Cronic.....

All this is more likley than Sato winning a race in 2006 :)
