i agree with typeg
i've never had any trouble shifting quick with the stock gear knob on a hot day with no a/c and windows down and my hands sweating
maybe you should wear some gloves? with the T bar knob..have u ever placed it in the wrong gear because of it being so big?

yup that knob is designed for a auto.
The "drag racing" history comes from auto 2 or 3 speed 1/4 mile cars....and they have kinda-similar gearknobs like this...
btw can you get more in ?

hmmz i agree with the others, the knob is a bit big for a manual, then then again its your car not mine and you can do whatever you like to it :D

Hmm, that looks wrong imo. And i gotta say stock is good enough. In fact i like the stock one. But if that suits ya, then it's all good.

"T" handles started in the states way back in the early 60's on the drag strips. They even came stock on some muscles cars like the Olds 442, some Mustangs Boss 302 Boss 351 etc., GTO judge models, all standards. The muscle cars were even advertised as "Hurst equipt" It's not really that big it's not quite a wide as the palm of your hand when you put your hand on it your hand is wider than the handle. No I have never put it in the wrong gear because of it's size infact gear selection is easier as it helps with lateral control because the extended "T" part acts like a lever compared to newer round knobs.
Let me pick up some choice words: 60s, drag strips, muscle cars, Mustangs.
You drive a new model econobox Honda Jazz bro.... that gearknob really really looks out of place in your car. :o

I am not putting you down at all, by any stretch of the word. I just find it quite curious that you are driving "drag style" in a Honda Jazz. Driving fast is one thing, heck, almost everyone in today's world is too impatient to drive the speed limit, but driving like a dragger that you have to worry about bending/breaking your stock shifter? In a honda jazz on top of that?
It's almost like a sumo wrestler that puts on ballerina shoes to see if he can do the swan dance. Yeah sure, maybe he can, but it sure is out of place. Once again, bro, I am not putting you or anything you do to your car down at all. I just find the shifter way out of place in your car. I can have an opinion, can't i?

to those ppl who want something like this, autotechnica makes em now... i saw a few at autobarn for MANUAL...
now in response to the thread... i admit that functionality should be taken over apperances in many repsects... and mebbe the knob can look good, and i take ur word for it that it works claymore
the question i wanna ask is y did u buy a jazz if u care about performance SO much that ur modding to fix ur shift action(with shift action accounting for mebbe 0.1 seconds over the 1/4? 0.2? woteva).... just interested to know thats all...

Now now, everyone has their own passion. His passion is muscle cars, so he gets the T bar shifter. Mine was the EuroR, so I got an Acura DC5S shift knob (which looks like the EuroR's shifter). My car is a family car and not made for the racetrack, but the shifter gives a nice feeling that your car is different and it does feel that it shifts better, eventhough it's just a knob!
Everyone likes their car to be personalised to their own style. You may not like the style so just say that you don't like it. No point telling claymore that he is driving a Jazz and not a muscle car. It's his way of personalising his Jazz.
The best thing is someone sitting in your car and he comments that he has no idea how to use the shifter. Just like for us 6MT Euro owners. We get a buzz when someone comments that we have 6 gears instead of 5 and they ask how to or when do we use 6th gear.
If it werent for claymore, most of us wouldn't have known that something like this even existed!
Edit: On a note about personalising, I just saw on Foxtel a hotrod with a shifter the height of your shoulder and the knob was a skull that the owner bought from Disneyland! The skull was huge! Like the size of a coffee mug. The way he shifted was unique!

Some of us are more interested in peformance than just how a car looks.
If anyone was SERIOUS about performance, they wouldnt buy a jazz in the first place!
Would you laugh at a corvette or mustang with Apexi, greddy and hks bits?? I sure as hell know i would.
all you need now, is a set of mickey thompson drag slicks, on cragar keystone mags, and a dodge grabber style bonnet scoop, maybe evn a shelby sticker or 2??.... and yes im taking the piss.
If a bigtime v8 bogan sees a hurst shifter on a jazz, you will be laughed out of town.
When i saw the pic i thought it was done for a laugh........
but.....
no

That's the reason why they are called so. They look down on anything less than a v8. Because of their narrow-mindedness, they think that v8s are at the top of the food chain. Aren't we being narrow-minded as well judging from our comments? :o
Let's all cruise to Bogan Shire and pose there! http://bogan.local-e.nsw.gov.au/

An auto driver could ask us the same thing on why do we purchase manual transmission cars. "Now you have to shift with your left hand as opposed to leaving it someone's thigh or holding a cuppa coffee or having a smoko. Wouldnt that make u tired and uncomfrotable quicker?". Everyone has their own preferences.
