could be a problem with gas pressures, TX valve, thermister on the evaprator.

really need to put the pressure guages on it to see what the problem could be, in other words might be a job for an air con place.

are you sure it dosnt come back on? because it does kick in and out it isnot constantly on... so you means it cuts out and dosnt come back on? if you want it to work then this isnt really the place cause we cant fix it from here lol go and see a air con specialist otherwise you'll get could be and might be answers... lol

when denso ( honda and most jap ac systems ) are over gassed the compressor also makes a ticking sound.

also make sure when you turn the aircon on your Condensor fan is turning, this will cool the condensor lowering the gas pressure in it, stoping it from over presureising and triping the highpressure cut out.

If you still have R12 gas in your car, you will be in for a surprise too.
Full retro-fit is not cheap. Requires new 'O' rings, new receiver/drier unit and a complete evacuation of R12 gas(cause releasing it to atmosphere is illegal, it is Ozone depleting) and installation of R134a or similiar gas.
Damn environment...

check the fuse!!!
haha i know its stoopid but my a/c wasn't workin and i didnt know why and i went to regas it and it still wasn't cold, same thing like it'll be cold then not cold

from experience check the fuse, thats all it was for me. stoopid had to pay for the gas too

Hey mate,

Does this ticking sound increase when the fan speed is turned up? I'm getting a ticking sound when I turn my fan on, and it gets louder when the fan speed increases.

i used to hav a/c problems wth the EG as well, still couldnt work it out wat was the problem.

the a/c was cold while turn on, mainly bcos the bottle has been replace and regas bout 3 times. :o but the thing is the cold is on/off, and the compressor vibrates every few minutes, bringing the engine idle from 800+rpm down to 100+rpm. was quite serious a few times where turning on the a/c and it keeps vibrating till the engine die off (ie: it brought down the rpm too low, and the engine shuts down). There was once, even white smoke came out (not sure where from), the a/c was on and keeps shutting down the engine, had to pullover, pop the bonnet but was too late to see where the smoke is coming from.

went to a few specialists, they couldnt work it out why. the car was stubborn, a/c seemed to work when the car is park or not moving. so most of the time at workshop, it seems to b working, some times not. so was really a pain.

anyone know the cause of all tat happening?

i recon your compressor is seizing up from a few posible resons.
to much air con oil in the system causing the compressor to lock up,
the compressor is crapping its self.
may to much gas in the system stressing the compressor.
tx valve.

i thing your compressor is putting that much load on your engine that its causing it to stall, the air con belt is that tight that its was slipping on the pullyes causing the belt to smoke up.

just a few sugestions

sounds like the best thing to do...... hopefully he knows whats wrong :) if they dont know what it is, they'll blame it on the electricals for the ac....

had a friend who had a old prelude did the same thing, never found out what was wrong with it....

good luck with that.
