Ok heres the situation, I recently bought a 600w pioneer amp, 1000w pioneer sub and all the cables and shit.
I plugged everything in with my mates (my mates have done heaps of systems up and shit) but there seems to be a problem with mine. Only twice did the sub start pumpin and all the rest of the time its not on. I noticed when the sub is pumpin the light on the amp is on constantly and when it isnt it flickers and is quite dim.
We checked out all the wiring and everything is fine. The only thing that we noticed was each time we got the sub pumpin (which has been only like 2-3 times) was when we fidled with the remote wiring cable.
Does anyone know what the **** is up with this or do I have to buy a new remote wiring cable? My mates have done all my friends systems and have no idea what is up with this piece of shit. Everything is brand new, right out of the box...

My headunit is a Pioneer DEH-P1Y.

Cheers!

buy a $10 multimeter and check the continuity of the remote wire.

Yeah maybe the remote wire is loose at the back of the headunit or its stuffed somewhere along the way from the headunit to the amp

it wouldn't be the remote, check the earth and battery cables

yeh mate i had the same problem...a bad earth does cause a problem caus eit is heavily involved with runing you amp along wif the battery wire....all i did to fix it was check me earth...but it might even be ya fuses check this as well your remote wire wont be a problem cause you would have wired it to the corect wire..my advice try earthing somewhere else to see if the same efect happens..if it does...check fuses...make sure you ahve run all ya wires and rca cables on seperate sides od ya car...rca,remote one side....battery and ground the other making sure they dont comeinto contact wif each other...remember doing it yaself is not always the best option if you still cant work it out go down to a audio place like strathfield i know there pricks but they will ahve a look for free and will be of good assistance

well atm my headunit is not fastened in, so we have full access to the back of my headunit and all the plugs are fine and perfectly placed.

Update: We just used a new/seperate remote wire and it did nothing at all. We already checked the fuses (well the ones that came with my headunit as my headunit comes with its own fuses) but none else cause no others are related to it right?
With the wiring I have the power and earth running on the right side of my car, where I have the RCA's and remote running through the center of my car.

My mates said they did the earth good but we might check that out tomorrow morning, so you guys reckon its a dodgy earth? Is there a way of testing whether the earth is dodgy or not?

it wouldn't have been the remote.

how to check a dodgy earth?

just earth it properly.

make sure ur earth wire is not too long, not damaged, connected securely to the head unit, and groundly securely.

check the amp fuse, it may be damaged, i've had a few problems like that.
and myself as well.
check the fuse on the power cable on your amp, open it up, and replace it, even though it may not look blown or damaged, but it can be.
so give that a try.
because if the light turns off, there is no power.
or get a test light/mulimter and check if power is getting through the fuse.

it could be one of 3 things, or maybe all......

1. remote wire
2. ground cable, make sure you have good grounding for it
3. battery??? (might be weak)

sounds like you are running the earth from the battery...try earthing the amp(s) to the chassis in the boot.

Yeah just did that, it was the earth the whole time, there werent many places in the accord for the earth but underneath the spare tyre was the perfect spot.
Only thing is now that my sub doesn't really sound big. I know its only 12" and a 600w amp, but my friend has the same system and it sounds so much bigger. Could it be wiring or just the fact that he has a smaller car than me?
Note: I have applied the best settings for my sub on the headunit.

haha got a uni assignment due tomoz ..thought id take thurs off for once but instead im just basically tweakin up the system.
Got a question lol
when I pump my sub my rear 6x9's pump aswell. i havent amped them up so when i pump the sub they pop and it sounds real disgusting aswell as my splits in the front. Theres no options in my headunit to turn the bass off for the front and rear speakers [funnily enough as its got about every other option that most headunits dont have], so what do I have to do so I can turn the bass off the spkers? one of my mates said get a cross over cable or sum shit

most deck should have that treble control and bass control you just have to look for it in your manual book or the head unit itself!!!!

no no no like it does!! It has treble, bass, high mid low everything (its an expensive headunit) but...when I turn down the bass it turns down the bass on the sub aswell which I don't want. I just want to turn the bass off the speakers

well on my deck/tv ;) i got a setting for high mid and low...but once u choose which one..and urs will be mid..u can go in and adjust the amount of treble and bass u want..

that head unit, should have an control for the sub out put.
did you hook up the rcas to the sub output at the back of your head unit?
then you should be able to "enable" your sub from the head unit, and then a few options should come up when you enable it, then you can turn the gain up or down for the sub only.
