Does someone who knows something about gear ratios care to interpret the differences in the TSX vs Euro gear ratios?

I suspect the TSX will have more aggressive gearing which raises the question as to whether a 2nd hand TSX gearbox will be a good mod for the Euro.

Euro
1st 3.533
2nd 1.88
3rd 1.354
4th 1.027
5th 0.825
6th 0.659
Reverse 3.583
Final 4.388

TSX
1st 3.267
2nd 1.880
3rd 1.355
4th 1.028
5th 0.825
6th 0.659
Reverse 3.583
Final 4.7

4.388 VS 4.7 seems to make a big difference.
As far as i know the bigger the final ratio, the stronger the acceretion is, but it will uses more fuel on highway .

Correct me if I'm wrong :D

where it counts.which is 2nd 3rd and 4th are virtually identical.

is the CL7 R ratio same as the oz euro or the tsx?

The difference in ratios between the gears determine the rpm drop when shifting, while the combination of the gear and final ratios determine the torque multiplication and hence the acceleration and top speed in gear.

Euro
1st: 15.502804
2nd: 8.24944
3rd: 5.941352
4th: 4.506476
5th: 3.6201
6th: 2.891692
Reverse: 15.722204

TSX
1st: 15.55092
2nd: 8.9488
3rd: 6.4498
4th: 4.89328
5th: 3.927
6th: 3.13684
Reverse: 17.05508

So, 1st gear is about the same, while they pull harder in all other gears. The Euro's top speed in the 2nd to 6th gears is higher, so we theoretically should consume less fuel. But driving style has a stronger effect on fuel consumption than a shorter final drive.

Also, the TSX would accelerate harder in reverse than the Euro, but our top speed will beat them eventually :D

EuroR's ratios:
1速 3.266
2速 2.130
3速 1.517
4速 1.147
5速 0.921
6速 0.738
後退 3.583
減速比:4.764

, but it will uses more fuel on highway .

What makes you say that ?

eg.
normal final gear 2500rpm@6th 100km/h, bigger final gear 3000@6th 100km/h

Does this make sense????

Seems that the TSX gets 3000rpm in 6th gear at 70mph (112km/h). If anyone hits the freeways, please note your rpm when you are at the speed limit of 110km/h so we can compare the difference.

Edit: Oh, and the TSX is geared for 2600rpm in 6th at 60mph (96km/h), so they might be hitting 2650 or 2700 at 100km/h, which is higher than our 2500rpm. But then again a 100rpm difference won't have any affect on fuel consumption.

I agree 100rpm won't make much different on fuel consumption.
But if there is only 100rpm different between Aus Euro and TSX. I assume it shouldn't be much different on acceretion????(juz guessing)

That's only in 6th gear.

What I meant was that AFAIK fuel consumption is determined 'mainly' by throttle position.

So whether you're cruising at 2,000rpm or cruising at 3,000 rpm as long as the car is in closed loop mode it shouldn't make a difference.

Correct me if i'm wrong!

Around 2650rpm at 110kph.
