Hi there..

Does anyone know if the Angel Eyes take HID setup ? I've got a pair and it uses H1 bulbs I think. It's not the newer types of Angel Eyes which are one piece, the headlights and the indicators are separate. I've read somewhere that these don't take HID kits. Can anyone confirm this ? Btw, I've got an EG Civic.

I don't think that'd be a problem at all. I've used HID in my old stock headlights (they're H4s), and I assume your angel eyes projector would be the same case.

I think it's just a matter of the bulb type. I have one piece angel eyes on my EG, and will try to convert to HID soon (mine's gonna be H3s).

Btw, anyone know where to get HID kit cheap? The cheapest I saw was 300 delivered, and 450 fitted.

My mate use to have angel eyes in his teg, and when he got HID it ruined them.. could barely see the beam because the angel eye projector magnified the HID beam and it was really bad. He took out the angel eyes and the HID are crazy now

sydsyd - Hid isn't that hard to fit really. Definatly not $150 difference.

Hmm.. thats interesting. I know the projectors on the angel eyes are really bad. I've got some really white bulbs on my car but when it goes through the lense of the angel eyes, it comes out yellow. I've tried many different bulbs but its the same thing.. so yeah..

yeah i got some aftermarket headlight projectors on my EG n currently waiting for my hb4 hid kit (yes, my headlight bulbs now uses hb4s) hope it turns out well...
btw to answer ur question any hid kit will fit any headlight housing as long as the light bulb base is the same as the hid kit your using..

Yeah.. thats normal. Mine is pretty bad when it comes to lighting up the roads at night and the beam looks weird on the road too. :thumbdwn:

just be careful, I've heard some case where the angel eyes lens actually melt, coz it couldnt stand the temperature of the HID.
other than that, there should be no probs

HID actually runs with less wattage than regular bulbs cos its an arcing lamp rather than a filament and actually produces less heat than regular bulbs (efficiency)
if you can sometime put your hand against the front of a HID headlight and feel the temp. then compare this with regular headlights.
Topic: projector angel eyes and HID. Do they mix?

So i confused  , Do HID really burn angle eye?
So please, could anyone here post a picture of a burned angle eye with a HID set-up to clear thing up abit. Also if you could, please give your comments on what cos it.

I think the light coming out of the angel eye's projector probably does not have a well defined cutoff height and could blind oncoming traffic. Maybe this is why?
Most factory HID projectors I've seen have a very defined cut off line like in the above pic.

dcii_sir: Search next time. You just look like an idiot asking the same question that has been answered many times before.

You must retrofit HID projectors from an OEM HID equiped vehicle. If you fit a HID sub system to angel eye Haledon projectors you will get a absolutly shit result.

To qoute my self:

http://ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25732

I would not use the projectors provided with these angel eye / projector head light sets.

I would retrofit a set of OEM HID projectors from another vehicle into the the projector casing.

Fitting one of those "HID Kits" into a non HID projector will be disasterous:

Shit glare:

A good HID retro fit should look like this:

Note that fitting HID equipment to a vehicle that does not come with them from the factory is illeagal.

If you're drving past me with a shithouse "HID kit", I'll be the first to jot your license plate down and hand it to the RTA.

Shell out for some OEM S2K, BMW, Mercedes or Audi projectors.

No. It is to do with intrinsic design of the projectors.

The first photo uses after market halogen projectors (like angel eyes) and a "HID kit".

The second is a Lexus ES300 using a 'HID Kit' in OEM halogen projectors.

The final photo is from an WRX STi with a factory fitted HID kit.

The only way at present to achieve a proper HID set up is to obtain the projectors from an OEM set up (prefeably with ballasts etc, but these can be bought after market), and modify a set of after market projector housings (like angel eyes) to fit them.

Note that a retro fit, even when done properly is still illeagal. Some members of Skylines Australia are attempting to have Mercedes projectors retrofitted to R32s engineered. It's a slow progress so far.

Note that even though R34 Skylines were fitted with OEM HID set ups, they must be "destroyed" during compliance. The Transit authorities take this very seriously.

I'm still waiting for destrukshn (or anyone else) to post photos. I wager that they do not provide a sharp cut off, but do scatter light, and have hot hotspots.

Some retro fits.

Rly44 has made custom shrouds and fitted them to OEM headlights which have been modified.

It would be alot easier to get some of those "JDM Style" projector headlights, remove the existing projectors and replace them with proper HID equipment. Generally a lot less fabrication is required.

Sounds like utter crap. 8000K produce shit all light.

Please post up a photo of you head lights aimed at wall, and down a street at night.

And HIDs don't have the same H1 designation. Usually it's something like D2S. Are you sere it is not a coloured halogen bulb like Diamondvision?
