Dust Rotor Cover Removal

Is it true that if you remove the dust rotor cover, you will cool the rotor much better, so you have better brakes.

probly would but im sure that there is a good reason that they are there to protect something

So has anyone tried it. I think you have to take it off you upgrade to a bigger rotor.

I thought they were there to prevent problems from busted CV's and the like, such as oil and grease on the rotors... that'd be bad.
