Hey guys,

I'm looking at turbocharging an F22B1, and I was wondering if you could run the system with stock ECU and a VAFC, or if you would need to get a new ECU/get your existing ECU remapped.

Thanks!

you can run it on a vafc, but it advances timing under boost so i wouldnt be doing it unless you are really, really cheap :)

The accord ecu cannot be remapped, so your alternatives are either getting a chipped civic ECU and running uberdata/hondata etc on it, getting a piggyback like a unichip or e-manage which can alter timing, or getting a standalone ECU

yeah its me with auto - manual will probably come later

Thanks for that info poid - i would be running it with a vafc because im cheap hahaha but eventually i'll look into getting another ecu

of course that is assuming i turbocharge it at all :P

Ahhh cant wait to c turbo accords in adel. If i dont get my wrx, i mite turbo my accord, I reckon its worth putting in a turbo then getting an engine conversion that its still a N/A.
Wat power will u think u would b getting and how much will it cost all up?
Good luck!!! and dont give up!

it all depends on availability of parts at the right price :P dunno yet

hey mike, get yourself a P28 and get it modded slightly and then run that with your car and then complete retune. To make things easier we have a specialist in SA.
Talk to Proecu on the forum for further details man.

the f22b's are pretty bulletproof from what ive heard, if u do some research on the net you will find a lot of turbocharged f22b's in america. IMO its better to save up for everyhting u will need and get it done in one go so to speak, otherwise ull end up spending more money getting it retuned and also parts wont have a differnt period of time in ur car. Weq i think saved up for something like 18 monhts or even longer for his new setup on his civic, very good idea.

yes they are quite of a bulletproof engine.. just make sure u run the correct oil or u can do a DUNDAS and screw ur engine up :P-- hope its just the gbox making the stupid noise :)-- doubt it though :S

Anyways... hope u find what u need...

P28=ECU from civic usually vti or si look on ebay for them.

yeh, just needs to be remapped

who does ECU remapping? what does it involved? do you mean using firmware upgrades such as uberdata?

yeh, i mean using software such as uberdata or crome to remap the fuel and ignition tables to suit the setup you have.

As for who does it, most people using this software DIY, although there may be a tuning option in melb for it soon

If you want a good ECU for your car dude have a look at HONDATA.
Go to RevZone (if your located in melbourne) and ask how much it would be for your car.

Take care
