i found out where the fuel filter is in my 91 civic, near the brake master cylinder in the firewall, my next question, what are the sequence of steps to replace a fuel filter??

there is about 2/3 hose connected to it, is there a step i should follow??

and how often should i change my fuel filter???

thanks guys

if your unsure i think you should just let your mechanic change it when u have your car serviced.

if your determined to do it though im sure there is someone here that could answer your question..

This is pretty generic...
Remove fuel pump fuse, start car until it stalls (removes fuel line pressure)
Remove 2 bolts from filter, pull off hoses & washers.
Remove old filter & fit new filter.
Replace washers if possible(advisable)
Fit hoses & bolts to new filter
Fit fuse and turn car to "ON" position, until fuel pump primes itself and turns off.
Check filter for any leaks, rectify as required.
Start car, again check for leaks.
Enjoy your motoring.

u dont need to take off the fuse...

the top bolt that lets out the pressure... without it sprayin gin ur face ..

then do the same as above post.

I believe it's somewhere between 40-60k between replacements.

As EG5[KRT] said no need to remove fuse!

how would that screw ur cat ?

u screw ur cat by using leaded fuel.. because it clogs up the honeycomb type openings.

When you let it run out of gas the engine runs extremely lean for a few seconds or more which causes the cat to get extremely hot. Some get so hot so fast they burst at the seams or bluge outward like a can of spoiled food.

hm... never heard of that happening ....
