heyy i thought u dynod at 118hp? :p

yehhh i short shifted 3rd-4th tho :|.. i changed way to early.. i was racing my friend and just watching him.. im not real good at hearing wen to change.. i just remember lookin at it wen i shifted and the revs were at like 6200 or something :S.. not good since it was just before the finish line and shifting woulda slowed me down that lil bit.. oh wellll im goin again hoping to break a 15.3 with a stripped interior

went to another dyno today and got my safc retuned.
last tuner wasnt that good and dyno showed high figures. but the 1 i went to today shows slightly lower figures than most dynos

14-10-2005, 07:57 PM
you didnt go to formaz did you?

locote
14-10-2005, 08:49 PM
yeah whats wrong with formaz dyno????

sivic
14-10-2005, 11:40 PM
nothings wrong with their dyno.....

locote
14-10-2005, 11:52 PM
is that the one you use??

sivic
15-10-2005, 02:17 AM
hell no.... well once for a service and once for a dyno run. but never again.
its not the dyno. its the operators. long story short: there are far better workshops who, to start with, dont need to be told by the customer that they've accidently done a dyno run in second gear. and then need it to be explained to them that the speeds on the dyno readout match 2nd gear and not 3rd, which is what gear they claimed to be in. "oh, its a honda. they dont make much power". on the scale of things, what with turbos and such, this is true but an Si with I/H/E doesnt make 42hp @ 90km/h....
funny thing is, prior to I/H/E they stuck it on the dyno after the service just out of interest and it made 90whp, which is not bad on this dyno as locote mentioned earlier it does give more conservative readings than other dynos in perth, and i can say for sure my car has not lost over 50% of its power:rolleyes:

xspeed is very close by and also have a dyno. they have a much better idea of whats going on

locote
15-10-2005, 09:26 AM
well i used the dyno, but i went to cypher, so it was the bloke from cypher that operated the dyno and tuned my car.
as for xspeed they left my car running way to lean!!!!!
and they lied to me about it!!!!!!

locote
15-10-2005, 11:43 PM
ran a 15.4 @87.63 mph today
60foot 2.343

ah nice. 15.4 wat?

is it worth gettin an safc?.. i get my engine tuned n dyno'd

locote
16-10-2005, 10:56 AM
i wanna turn my safc2 off ant try to c how it goes with out it,
to be honest the car felt quiker when i drove it to get the safc2 put on a tuned.
if i was to go back id save more money and by something bit more tunable:)
and just reset ur ecu everytime u do a mod.
i read up on another forum it makes the ecu learn and adjust to the new mods.

locote
16-10-2005, 11:01 AM
if i was to get a 60foot like your id be looking at real low 15s.
2 15.4s in 1 night aint bad.
lsd is im the books for me i need 1 its strating to get hard to get tration.
the crower cams will make a big diffrerence too as they make pwer all the way to the redline.

truu.. wat mods hav u got done? like everything u've added to the car from stock form?? ur gettin pretty good times. i wanna kno if my driving sucks lol.. all i hav done from stock: simota short ram cai with an apexi pod, 4-2-1 hurricaine headers, 2.25" exhaust system with 5" cannon. no ecu work or tuning or any internal work... i ran my time with 15" wheels with 185/55 tyres so i'm pretty impressed with my 60ft time but mayb my shifting isnt quick enuf..

locote
16-10-2005, 08:07 PM
ive taken my safc2 off and im seling it. im goin all out management!!!
i have stock 4-2-1 typeR header, CAI with stock box stok rubber pipe, k&n pob(in box)
2.5inch zorst(i wanna go to 2.25).im shifting at 6400 6500. the safc's tacho is very accurate for shifting!!
ill miss that!!!!
ran 2 15.4s
mainly mid 15s all day.
ran 2 16s
one was a 16.9. i realy messed up.
i was loosing traction goin into 3rd sometimes it was very slippery towards end of day.

locote
16-10-2005, 08:12 PM
am my suspencion is SH@#^&*!
chopped springs all 4 corners are diffrernt height.
once i get that fixed i should get bit more traction.
getting a new header tomorow 4-2-1 ssteel 1 piece header edelbrock.
and gona dyno it to see what hp i pick up and what rev range

dc4t
16-10-2005, 08:20 PM
hahaha y chop the springs!!.. get ebay coilover sleeves lol.. theyre crappy but they do the job safer than cut springs. shit i shift at 7000rpm.. mayb ill try shiftin a bit earlier since max power of a stock gsi is like at 6500rpm right?? u should strip out ur interior.. u'll do pretty good i reckon

locote
16-10-2005, 08:25 PM
they were already chopped when i bought it.
i cant be stuffed taking interior out. most i do is take spare out.
have u got the coil over sleeves???
are they ok.
can they be adjusted???

sivic
18-10-2005, 12:14 AM
coil over sleeves can be dodgey. they often are made from poor grade of metal.
a good setup are eibach springs(prokits) and koni yellows or KYB AGX shocks. they are both adjustable for damper. when you go down the strip have your fronts softish and your back as hard as posible. that way your back end wont squat and you'll get less wheelspin.

ah, so you got someone from cypher to tune it ay? woud have been zack or gav. they know what they're doing so your car should be ok.
what management are you thinking of going with? we're a bit hard struck for options for our hondas here in perth if you dont want to spend heaps

yeah whats wrong with formaz dyno????

Formaz dyno gave me weird figures ...
I went there several months ago and watched as the same car got 105HP then 119HP then 130HP in consecutive runs. It was a FTO. It took some time for the operator to correctly set the parameters.

locote
18-10-2005, 07:58 PM
yes that happene to my yesterday i got new header installed, the dyno was showing different figures every run with minor adjustments!!
i think zack should find another place to tune his cars.
but yeah CYPHER is awsome!!!
gav told me to take car to plex and if i wasnt happy with the new header that they would take them off and put my old one bak on.
ill go for KYB!!!
Gav is looking into managements for me, he showed me the AEM plugin for Hondas his gona find out if they make it for nonvtecs.
hondata s100 looks tempting too but whos gona install and tune in WA???
im happy how my car runs now with the new header and safc2, i was thinking of selling the safc2 but i changed my mind.
99% sure ill be at plex tomorow trying to break my 15.410 time.

ebay sleeves are definately unsafe for track use... but for daily driving theres no harm in having them. id rather them than lowered springs.. a good setup is koni shocks with coilover sleeves.. u can get ur car loooooww.. i've never heard of problems with coilover sleeves unless u buy the ones with plastic top hats.. they get pushed up into where the strut is bolted in when ur shocks bottom out but then again they are alot more comfortable and better sounding than alluminium. but yehh nowhere near as safe.. it only bottoms out wen u hav urs set real low.. i got mine an inch off the lowest point

locote
20-10-2005, 10:35 PM
ill go the KYB shocks, ill get a price soon.
atm im more focused on getting my car to run 14s. on current suspesion even though getting a new set of shocks would prob help even more

[QUOTE=dc4t]ebay sleeves are definately unsafe for track use...

by that i mean.. a race track.. not a drag strip.. drag strips fine
