Im thinking about installing a short shifter into my CRX sometime down the line of modifications.
What I am wandering tho - are straight short shifters - the only shifters available for a Honda Civic/CRX? or is there a company that makes them with different profiles - as an example a dog leg one to have the shifter closer to the driver?

Mike

there r 3 different types of shifters for your crx.
i sell the 45075 allot but they r straight, i can source the others tho.
in the catalouge here:
http://www.bmracing.com/media/catalog/3.pdf
it states:
45047; (factory bend) 49% reduction in throw.
45074; (race model) 54% reduction in throw.
45075; (straight) 46% reduction in throw.
i sell and use the 45075 in my eg. heres some info regarding that shifter:

hey mike
i have a short shifter, looks like the first one in the top picture,
bought it about 4 years ago and no problems watsoever,
i think the difference is very minimal between that and the factory bend one though, unless you have short arms.

but it would make the 3/5 gear closer to the driver wouldn't it?
just a convenience thing i guess...

I have a B&M shifter in my EG and my only complaint was that it didn't have the little bend in it at the top. As a result the shifter sat a bit too far forward (and meant you had to reach forward a bit extra for ALL gears (quite annoying/uncomfortable)
My only concern was the fact that the B&M shifter does not have a bend in the shifter which keeps the gearknob sitting closer to the driver. With the new B&M shifter, the gearknob now sits a bit too far forward for my liking.
Here's my writeup:

PS: Trav you should have sold me the 'bent' one !!
