so its a reservoir for the oil to stay during connering. so that the oil pump pick up, actually has some oil to pick up?
Can this be done to a b16a sump?

Im sure if you make the plates, we can get them welded in locally.

Ideally, i'd like to see someone convert the stock pan into something more like the Morosso.

You mean with 2x One-Way Gates?
I already thought of that, but cost too much. If you made a 100 of em yeah, you could probably do it for a reasonable price. But it seems like anything is too much for some people, they wanta bitch about something less that $300, which provides insurance for an $8000 engine.

I do know what you mean....

I will be doin mine without a lip aswell.

Lets just stop and think about it logically. When will the lip actually come into play? I don't see any a time that the lip will prevent any more oil starvation compared with the same plate without the lip.

Now i got some questions. Is the lip that important? and also i was just gonna weld it in place on the side corners instead of using the rivots. Is that gonna be a problem?

Try a quick experiment. Get old ice cream container, Half filled with water.
Move container around, the water splashs all over the place.
Now put a lid on it with a large hole cut in the top. Reshake... Some water comes out.
Now put a lip around the hole and even less water comes out.

It's 'not' that your baffle won't work without the lip. It just won't be as good as it could have been with a lip.

Also because we're using it for oil, reversion also comes into it, Tension increasing flow. But it's all very slight. Check any Engineering manuals, I've 2 & they both advise the lip. Best lip has a rolled/Pressed edge, not a 90 degree angle. But to make the press tool for that would be atleast $8K.

But like I said...It'll still work without the lip.

The problems with welding the Plate to the Pan.... Mugen Spot weld.
1) You'd have to use a MIG ( Big messy welder ) creates lots of Heat. WARPING.
2) Weaking the walls of the pan. Possibllity of Leaks later.
3) Vibration - Pleanty down there, might crack those Fat Welds - Plate comes loose.

Hope this helps, and remember....
Any baffle is better than No Baffle at all..... :D

GoodLuck Fellas...
